Stardew Valley 1.6 launched on PC on March 19, 2024, then arrived on console and mobile on November 4, 2024, as version 1.6.9. The update added a new farm, progression systems, festivals, crops, crafting options and more. Later patches added further features and fixes, but the latest build now depends on platform; the official archive documents console maintenance through February 2025, not a complete current version list for every device.

When did Stardew Valley 1.6 come out?

ConcernedApe released version 1.6 on PC on March 19, 2024. Console and mobile players received the update on November 4, 2024, as version 1.6.9. The developer announced that rollout date in September; on launch day, the official forum confirmed the update was out while noting it could take time to appear on individual devices. ConcernedApe’s PC announcement and the console and mobile announcement record the release history.

The official archive later listed patch 1.6.15.1 for Xbox, PlayStation and Switch in February 2025, saying it brought console content in line with the latest PC content at that time. The archive and announcements cited here do not establish the latest build for every platform as of October 8, 2026. Check the update history for your specific platform if you need its current version number. The developer’s archive is the source for those dated announcements.

What changed in Stardew Valley 1.6?

Version 1.6 was both a content expansion and a systems update. Its additions range from a new farm layout and progression to seasonal events, items and interface refinements. The official 1.6 changelog describes itself as “mostly complete,” so it is the developer’s broad list rather than a guarantee that every change is captured.

Visual, interface and multiplayer changes

On PC, multiplayer capacity increased to eight players, with performance and stability changes. The changelog discusses matching build numbers when joining a server; the eight-player cap should not be assumed to apply to every platform.

What did Stardew Valley 1.6.9 add?

Version 1.6.9 was a later patch, not the original 1.6 feature release. In addition to balance adjustments, bug fixes, quality-of-life and performance work, and localization updates, its changelog lists several notable additions. Some functionality is platform-dependent, as the official 1.6.9 changelog indicates.

  • Legendary fish can be placed in fish ponds, one fish per pond, where they produce legendary roe.
  • Beds can be placed in constructed buildings that allow furniture.
  • Dropped items float briefly in water.

The changelog also describes hidden cheat commands for platforms where save editing is possible. That platform qualification matters: the feature should not be read as universally available across devices.

How to check your platform’s current version

The documented rollout dates and patches establish when 1.6 reached platforms, but they are not a current, platform-by-platform build chart. For the version installed now, check the game’s update history or store page on the device where you play, then compare it with the relevant official announcement or platform update record. This is especially important because console and mobile availability can depend on when an update appears for a particular device.
