Buy the Avalanche Rod for 35,000 C$ at the campsite in the Northern Expedition, near the second fireplace on the route up Northern Summit. Look around the Overgrowth Caves campsite and its nearby path: guides differ on whether the rod appears beside the fireplace or beside a tent, so use the camp itself as your landmark.
Where to find the Avalanche Rod
Travel to the Northern Expedition and follow the mountain ascent toward Northern Summit. The rod is sold at the camp associated with Overgrowth Caves, in the second-fireplace area. The maintained item listing places it near the second fireplace, while a route guide describes it beside a tent at the Overgrowth Caves campsite; inspect the campsite and nearby path rather than relying on one exact visual placement. The item listing was updated September 25, 2026, and the route guide dates to December 31, 2024. Item listing · Route guide
Getting to the campsite
- From Moosewood, take a boat toward the Northern Expedition marker and enter the portal.
- Follow the ascent toward Northern Summit until you reach the second-fireplace campsite by Overgrowth Caves.
- Check around the fireplace, tent, and nearby path for the Avalanche Rod, then purchase it for 35,000 C$.
An older route guide mentions a Glider for crossing a gap, but notes that it became unnecessary after an update. It should not be treated as a current requirement. A separate listing gives coordinates of 19,772, 415, 5,418 for Overgrowth Caves, but coordinates can change with game updates; use the campsite landmarks if those figures do not match your game. Is it the right rod for your next fishing trip?
Compare the rod against the fish and route you plan to tackle, rather than treating a later acquisition stage as proof that it is automatically better. Luck affects rarity chances, control affects the reeling bar, resilience reduces fish movement, and maximum weight limits which fish you can catch. Its Frozen- and Sleet-related passives may also matter if you are pursuing those mutations. Rods reference
