It was originally tied to The Hit List community event, but that event’s 2024 unlock instructions do not establish the current route. Check the live Challenges or Armory menus, then equip the stock in Gunsmith if it is available to you.
How to unlock the Buffer Weight Stock
The stock was originally tied to The Hit List limited-time community event. In November 2024, guides reported that the event’s eight-billion-elimination community milestone had been reached and that the attachment was available afterward. That milestone is a historical event target, not a current unlock confirmation.
Because those directions date from 2024, they do not verify how the attachment is obtained in October 2026. Check the current in-game Challenges or Armory menus for an unlock requirement or claim option. If the attachment does not appear after you meet a listed requirement, restart the game and check again; restarting was suggested in the 2024 guide, but it is not a confirmed fix for every current version.
For context, ONE Esports’ November 25, 2024 guide reported the event milestone had been met. The Escapist’s November 25, 2024 guide describes accessing the event’s Community page; that is historical menu guidance and may no longer match the game.

Which weapons can use it?
The Buffer Weight Stock is reported as compatible with these three weapons:
- XM4 assault rifle
- XMG light machine gun
- DM-10 marksman rifle
Both ONE Esports and The Escapist list those weapons. If you do not see the stock in a weapon’s attachment menu, first confirm you are using one of these models.

How to equip it in Gunsmith
- Open Weapons and select the loadout containing the XM4, XMG, or DM-10.
- Open that weapon’s Gunsmith screen.
- Select the Stock attachment category.
- Choose Buffer Weight Stock if it is unlocked and displayed.
Gunsmith is Black Ops 6’s weapon-customization interface. The official Call of Duty guide explains that weapon XP unlocks attachments generally; it does not confirm a current unlock route for this event attachment.

ONE Esports’ November 25, 2024 guide describes the attachment this way: “This stock significantly improves both vertical and horizontal recoil control, offering greater accuracy during sustained fire. The trade-offs are minimal, with slight reductions to aim down sight (ADS) speed and aim walking movement speed.” These are qualitative claims from that guide; it gives no numerical stat changes or independent test results.

In practical terms, the stated benefit is improved control of upward and side-to-side recoil, while the stated costs are slower ADS and slower movement while aiming. Whether that trade is worthwhile depends on whether recoil control matters more to your build than those handling effects. The official guide’s general description of the Stock category is separate from this attachment-specific effect and should not be treated as its stat sheet.
