What is the Gauntlet in Diablo 4?
Blizzard described the Gauntlet as a weekly, fixed, non-linear dungeon where players compete to earn scores and place on leaderboards. Its route is fixed for the weekly challenge, while its non-linear layout means players can choose how to approach it rather than simply following a single straight path. Blizzard’s announcement put the emphasis on replaying the challenge for a stronger score and leaderboard position.

Blizzard’s Gauntlet announcement said: “Each week you can master a new Gauntlet: a fixed non-linear Dungeon that will have you fighting to earn the mightiest score.”
When did Season 3 and the Gauntlet arrive?
Blizzard announced that Season of the Construct would begin January 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. PST. The season introduced the Seneschal companion and Vaults, and the initial announcement said weekly Gauntlet leaderboards would arrive later, with more details to follow. Blizzard subsequently announced March 5, 2024, as the Gauntlet’s arrival date.

Who could enter the Gauntlet?
Blizzard said the Gauntlet was open to all classes in the Seasonal Realm after reaching World Tier IV. That is the access condition for the Gauntlet described in the announcement.

It is separate from the seasonal questline requirement. For that questline, Blizzard said players needed a new Seasonal Realm character and had to have completed the main campaign. Those questline requirements do not replace the Gauntlet’s World Tier IV condition.

The headline’s comparison is not specific enough to verify a one-to-one return. Blizzard’s announcements establish that Diablo IV received a weekly score challenge with leaderboards; they do not name a Diablo III feature as its model or establish matching rules, character requirements, rewards, or progression. It is more accurate to call the Gauntlet a leaderboard-focused challenge in Diablo IV than to claim it is identical to a particular Diablo III mode.

What is the current Diablo 4 context?
The Gauntlet’s March 2024 launch belongs to Season of the Construct, but Diablo IV continued receiving updates afterward. Blizzard’s official patch-notes page includes a September 30, 2026 patch with a leaderboard user-interface fix. That later update is current-game context; it does not change the historical Season 3 launch dates or establish a Diablo III connection.
