Yes. Phasmophobia supports cross-play between PC and console players, including PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. PS VR2 players can also team up with PS5 players. Cross-play is optional, so the setting must be enabled for it to work.
Which platforms can play together?
Kinetic Games announced that PC and console players could team up across platforms when the console versions launched, naming Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PS VR2. The developer’s console-release announcement and the PlayStation Store listing support cross-play between PC and console players.
PlayStation’s PS VR2 feature overview, published October 25, 2024, specifically says PS VR2 players can team up with PS5 or PS5 Pro players. PS VR2 is therefore another way to play alongside PS5 users, not a separate platform exclusion.
The official sources establish cross-play across the named PC and console ecosystem, but do not publish a complete pair-by-pair compatibility chart. They also do not establish support for unlisted or future platforms.

- Players must coordinate with one another, and the resulting synergy will hopefully be enough to successfully evacuate a city under siege and contain the horrific outbreak that threatens to spread beyond the island itself.
What to check if a friend cannot join
- Check that cross-play is enabled. Kinetic Games describes the feature as optional, and its v0.14.2.0 update notes refer to cross-play being turned off. The notes do not give a current menu path, so look for the cross-play option in the game’s settings rather than relying on an outdated path.
- Make sure everyone has updated the game. Kinetic Games said it planned to release future updates on all platforms simultaneously to preserve cross-play. That is the developer’s stated approach, not a guarantee that temporary outages or version mismatches will never happen. If the game is updated and cross-play is enabled but the group still cannot connect, the reviewed official sources do not identify a specific fix.
Does online play require a subscription?
For PS5, the PlayStation Store listing says a PS Plus subscription is required for online play and lists support for up to four online players with PS Plus. That requirement is specific to the PlayStation listing; it does not establish Xbox subscription requirements.
Does cross-play mean progress transfers?
No such promise is established by the official sources cited here. They confirm cross-play, not cross-progression, so do not assume that levels, unlocks or purchases carry over between platform accounts.
