Strands is a word-search-style puzzle played on a six-by-eight grid. Its theme words connect to a spangram, which describes the theme and links opposite sides of the board. Forbes’ May 12 guide reproduces the Times’ description that themes may be fill-in-the-blank phrases, steps in a process, items in a category, synonyms, or homophones.
