Hulu on the original Nintendo Switch is no longer an alternative: Nintendo says the app was removed from the eShop on November 6, 2025, and service ended on February 5, 2026. These dates refer to the original Switch app, not just Switch 2. Nintendo’s notice is at Hulu Discontinuation on Nintendo Switch.
Does Nintendo Switch 2 support Crunchyroll?
No. Nintendo Support says, “The Crunchyroll app can only be used on Nintendo Switch.” Crunchyroll likewise explains that an app transferred from an original Switch may appear on Switch 2, but will not launch successfully because Switch 2 does not support it. An app icon on the console therefore does not mean the app is usable. See Nintendo’s Crunchyroll FAQ and Crunchyroll’s Switch 2 help page.

How long will Crunchyroll work on the original Switch?
Nintendo says Crunchyroll service on Nintendo Switch is scheduled to end on October 30, 2026. As of October 8, 2026, that date is still in the future. The announcement concerns the original Switch app; it does not indicate that a Switch 2 version is coming.
Could Crunchyroll come to Switch 2 later?
Crunchyroll says it has made no announcement about availability on Switch 2. That leaves future support unknown: the current incompatibility does not establish whether the service will or will not release an app later.

What Nintendo’s compatibility information says
Nintendo’s compatibility guide, current as of June 5, 2025, lists Crunchyroll among software that cannot be used on Switch 2. For the app-specific status and service end dates, Nintendo’s and the services’ dedicated support pages provide the more direct statements. Check Nintendo’s Switch 2 compatibility guide.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What this means if you’re choosing a console for streaming
Buying a Nintendo Switch 2 does not provide access to Hulu or Crunchyroll on that console. If either service is essential, check its current supported-device list for your region before choosing a device; the sources cited here do not establish a particular streaming-device workaround. Hulu’s model list is from its Japan Help Center in English, while Nintendo’s support pages are for the Americas, so availability details may vary by region.
