The best PS5 faceplate is the one made for your exact console model. PlayStation’s official covers are easy to swap and come in several finishes, but original PS5, Slim and Pro covers are not interchangeable. Check the model number and the cover’s compatibility statement before choosing a color.
First, identify your PS5 model
“Faceplates” and “console covers” refer to the removable outer panels. PlayStation sells covers for specific console groups, so a color you like is not enough to establish fit.
- Original PS5 (CFI-1000): Shop for covers explicitly marked for the original console group.
- PS5 Slim (CFI-2000 or CFI-2100): The UK listing identifies the Slim cover model as CFI-ZCS2 and specifies compatibility with CFI-2000 and CFI-2100 consoles: PlayStation’s UK Slim cover listing.
- PS5 Pro: Choose a product explicitly designated for Pro. PlayStation says CFI-1000 and CFI-2000 Slim cover sets are not compatible with Pro: PS5 Pro compatibility guide.
Check the model number on your console and compare it with the exact product listing before ordering. PlayStation also provides separate cover-replacement instructions for CFI-1000 and CFI-2000/7000 groups: cover removal and replacement support.
Which official PS5 covers are worth considering?
For a straightforward choice, buy an official cover that matches your model and preferred finish. PlayStation’s official US range includes solid colors as well as brighter, more expressive options; the UK Slim listing shows a different assortment. These are examples of market-specific listings, not a guarantee of local stock.

Choose solid colors for a restrained look, or consider translucent/neon, iridescent or themed designs if you want the console to stand out. PlayStation describes its official covers as physical replacements that click into place, not stickers or decorative skins. The US page notes that the console, cover and DualSense controller are sold separately. Current prices and availability vary by country, so confirm both on the local product page.
Are third-party faceplates a good alternative?
They may offer more designs, but the available official-source information does not establish third-party fit or quality. Treat each product as a separate purchase decision rather than assuming that a shell described as “PS5” fits every generation.

How to change PS5 console covers
PlayStation’s official description is: “Simply remove your original white PS5 console covers and click your new covers into place.” Follow the safety steps in Sony’s manuals before handling the panels; no special tool is identified as necessary in the official instructions.
- Turn off the console, unplug the power cable and other cables, and wait for the console to cool.
- Place it on a soft, flat surface before removing or installing covers.
- Remove the existing covers and click the model-compatible replacements into place, following the instructions for your console group.
- Do not operate the console without its covers.
