There is no established universal best build. Choose based on whether you value movement, carrying and resilience, or looting and field utility—and check the live tree before committing points while the rework is still being tuned.
What changed in the Frozen Trail 2.0 skill tree?
Embark’s October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail 2.0 patch notes describe a redesigned tree with new skills, improvements to existing skills, and a reshuffled layout. The middle and end nodes now present choices instead of simply extending a linear path. Embark says the goal is to make skill selections better define and refine each player’s style, and notes that further tuning may follow as it observes player engagement.
The update also changed several existing skills. In the October 8 patch, Fight or Flight’s stamina gain increased by about 25% per level, Stubborn Mule’s stamina-regeneration values increased by about 33%, and Back on Your Feet healing rose from 30 to 40. These are patch-specific changes, not guaranteed values for later versions.
How do skill points and branch choices work?
Raider levels grant skill points, which you allocate across Conditioning, Mobility, and Survival. Embark’s skill-tree help page, last updated October 29, 2025, explains that baseline progression; it predates the 2.0 redesign and should not be used to infer the current node layout.

Under the new structure, each branch’s middle node presents two skills, and you choose one. At the branch end, two nodes offer choices drawn from three skills; once you have invested the required points, you can select up to two of those choices. The official update says a middle choice can be changed by resetting the tree. Its notes do not specify current point thresholds.
A current third-party guide says resets cost 2,000 Coins per skill point and lists thresholds and sample allocations, but it flags its post-rework ranks and values as still being confirmed. Treat those details as provisional and verify costs, ranks, skill positions, and thresholds in the live game before spending points.

What does each branch suit?
Think of the branches as different priorities, not mutually exclusive playstyles. Your investment and branch choices create tradeoffs: points spent pursuing one specialty are unavailable for other options.
- Mobility: stamina, sprinting, vaulting, rolling, and traversal. It is the natural starting focus if movement and escape options matter most to you.
- Conditioning: carrying capacity, shields, resilience while downed, breaching, and melee options. It fits players who want to carry more, endure danger, or use close-range utility.
- Survival: looting, stealth, field crafting, and newer in-raid utility. It supports longer scavenging runs and adapting supplies during a raid.
Which build should you try first?
There is not enough settled evidence to call one allocation best. A current guide proposes four archetypes, but labels them first drafts while the reworked tree is being tested. Use the following as a way to choose priorities, not as fixed skill-by-skill recipes.
Rank #3
- Next-gen 12,000 DPI HERO optical sensor delivers unrivaled gaming performance, accuracy and power efficiency
- Advanced LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse for super-fast 1 ms response time and faster than wired performance
- Ultra-long battery life gives you up to 250 hours of continuous gaming on a single AA battery
- Lightweight mechanical design and classic shape for maximum maneuverability, durability and comfort
- Compact, portable design with convenient built-in storage for included USB wireless receiver
| Playstyle | Starting emphasis | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Aggressive PvP | Mobility for stamina and movement | Less investment remains for carrying capacity, resilience, and looting utility. |
| Balanced raids | Mobility as a foundation, with points directed to the other branches according to your needs | A broad approach means fewer points devoted to a single specialty. |
| Looting and security breaches | Conditioning, including the relocated Security Breach skill | Prioritizing carrying and breach utility means giving up some movement or Survival investment. |
| Solo survival | Survival for stealth, looting, and longer-run utility | More emphasis on raid longevity leaves less investment for Mobility or Conditioning strengths. |
These are starting templates, not tested or definitive builds. The guide also notes that carry-weight skills have moved to Conditioning. Because the rework is new and exact ranks and values are still being confirmed, confirm every skill name and position in-game and adjust after seeing how the live version supports your own runs.

Frozen Trail 2.0 changed the layout, skill choices, and placements, so old skill orders and point thresholds may no longer apply. Even the official progression help page predates the redesign. Embark says additional tuning may follow, and the current detailed guide presents its new allocations as provisional. Check the current tree rather than relying on a pre-2.0 route or an unqualified claim that a particular build is best.
