The most efficient way to level up in Palworld is to combine exploration, unfinished Capture Bonuses, dungeon runs and boss fights instead of grinding one activity. Catch five of each new species you encounter, then take on dungeons, Alpha Pals and Tower Bosses that suit your gear and party. Pocketpair’s July 2026 version 1.0 notes raised the player level cap to 80 and reduced the Capture Bonus requirement from 12 catches to five; later September updates are listed, but their specific effects on leveling are not established here.
What changed about leveling in Palworld?
Pocketpair’s Palworld v1.0 release changelog, dated July 10, 2026, raised the player level cap from 65 to 80 and changed the experience table and Pal experience gain. It also says lower-level Pals gain experience more easily, making it easier to bring under-levelled party members along.
The Capture Bonus threshold is now five captures per species, down from 12. Older guides that recommend catching 12 of each Pal are out of date for this mechanic. Capture progress is especially useful because you can build it into ordinary exploration rather than stopping to grind separately.

Catch five of each new species
As you enter new habitats, check which species still have an unfinished Capture Bonus and catch up to five. Prioritize new species and incomplete bonuses as you travel; the aim is to combine catches with the rest of your route, not repeatedly farm one species without a reason.

Explore dungeons on the way to their boss
Search available paths, fight or capture Pals you encounter, collect resources and finish the dungeon by defeating its boss. This bundles several kinds of progression into one trip. A guide updated through Update 1.0.2 describes dungeon encounters, boss rewards and a completion reward, but exact payout amounts should not be treated as current or guaranteed.

Take on suitable Alpha Pals and Tower Bosses
These fights are recommended as substantial individual experience opportunities. Choose opponents your equipment and party can handle; the available sources do not establish a universal level order or a precise experience yield for each fight.

Bring the Pals you want to train
Keep intended trainees in your party during exploration and other high-reward activities. Pocketpair says lower-level Pals benefit from the revised experience curve, while published official information does not provide comparative Pal XP rates for different activities.
Choose activities by what you need

There is no source-backed numeric ranking of these activities by experience per minute. Pick a route based on your combat readiness, nearby unfinished Capture Bonuses, and whether you want player levels, Pal catch-up experience or both.
Use base activity and food as support
Current practical guidance also recommends keeping base Pals productive and using experience-boosting food before longer activities. Treat these as supplementary ways to support progression, not proven replacements for exploring, catching and fighting. Specific food percentages are not established by the cited official notes, so there is no reliable figure to quote here.
