How to unlock Cosmic Exploration
These requirements apply to the character starting the content. Cosmic Exploration areas and quests are restricted to that character’s Home World.

- Complete the Endwalker main scenario quest. Square Enix states this prerequisite in the Patch 7.21 notes.
- Have at least one Disciple of the Hand or Disciple of the Land at level 10.
- Speak to Namingway in Old Sharlayan at X:12.6, Y:13.6, and accept A Cosmic Homecoming.
The opening destination is Sinus Ardorum. Cosmic Exploration was introduced in Patch 7.21, and the official guide describes further stars as part of the development and quest progression. The guide does not give one universal numeric project-rank or contribution threshold for every unlock, so follow the available star quests and project milestones rather than relying on an assumed rank.
How to unlock each star

For travel to stars you have unlocked, use the Bestways Burrow aetheryte or Drivingway in Mare Lamentorum, or speak to Cruisingway on a star. See the Patch 7.41 notes for the Oizys access clarification and the Patch 7.51 notes for Auxesia.

What you do during Cosmic Exploration
Stellar missions
Take requests from the exotablet. Crafters complete them through the Cosmic Crafting Log; gatherers use Stellar Reduction. Missions are level-synced and graded bronze, silver, or gold: higher scores return greater rewards. Provisional and critical missions pay more than basic missions, making score and mission type important when choosing how to spend time.
Star development projects
When a milestone project is scheduled, join its designated event and contribute. Participation earns rewards and advances that star’s development, which is part of the broader progression toward later destinations.

Mech ops
You can pilot a mech or provide ground support. Both roles award Cosmic Exploration currencies and experience; ground support also provides a bonus effect for a number of stellar missions. Piloting is additionally relevant to a special ticket-based cosmic fortune roulette.
Auxesia artifact search
On Auxesia, qualifying high-performing Class A missions, including EX and EX+, and provisional missions can reward dronebits. Exchange dronebits for drone modules, use the modules to scan for artifacts, collect unappraised ancient records, and take those records to Kaede for appraisal.

Auxesia tool mastery
Once you have a final-stage Cosmic Tool, you can attempt timed, score-based tool mastery missions on Auxesia. There are three missions per class. Scores grant class-specific tool mastery points, which contribute to certain achievements and titles.
Cosmic Exploration rewards and where they come from

Square Enix’s Patch 7.51 notes list the Auxesia Token Booklet, Auxesia Exploration Token, Cosmic Explorer’s Jacket, Cosmic Operator’s Coverall Top, Auxesian Waygate, Auxesian Waylight, Cosmic Steps, Cosmic Partition, Cosmic Metal Shelf, Auxesian Tower Replica, and Galactic Way Miniature. These are examples of cosmetic and housing rewards, not a complete shop list or a statement of exchange costs.

Which reward route should you prioritize?
- For general items: earn Cosmocredits and spend them with the local star vendor; check the in-game inventory for current offerings.
- For a token mount: focus on eligible EX+ missions, or on Auxesia, include tool mastery missions. Tokens are star-specific, so confirm the destination’s rewards before choosing a route.
- For tool upgrades: complete stellar missions with the relevant class and monitor research data in Cosmic Research on the exotablet. You do not need to equip the Cosmic Tool for data to accrue.
- For Auxesia achievements or titles: build class-specific tool mastery scores by completing its timed missions with a final-stage Cosmic Tool.
- For additional item chances: spend the appropriate star credits on cosmic fortunes, or earn a special roulette ticket by piloting during mech ops. The guide does not publish odds, so treat outcomes as variable.
