EA calls your username an EA ID or Public ID. To change it, sign in to your EA Account, go to Account Information, select Edit beside EA ID, enter the new ID, and select Save. EA allows an EA ID change once every 30 days.
Change your EA ID
- Sign in to your EA Account.
- Open the Account Information tab.
- Select Edit beside EA ID.
- Enter the new ID, then select Save.
EA may ask you to verify your identity before you edit an account setting. If prompted, select Send code, choose a verification option, and enter the code you receive. EA’s account instructions do not specify which edits always trigger verification. See EA’s account information instructions.
EA ID rules to check before saving
- Length: The ID must be between 4 and 16 characters.
- Uniqueness: It must not already be in use.
- Privacy: It cannot contain your name or other identifying information.
- Content filter: EA may flag letters, words, or special characters and prevent you from using a proposed ID.
- Cooldown: You can update your EA ID only once every 30 days, so choose a replacement you are comfortable keeping.
Electronic Arts Help states: “Your EA ID must be a unique identifier between 4 and 16 characters.” See EA’s EA ID guidance.
What “EA username” means
The setting you need is labeled EA ID. EA also calls it the Public ID: it is the identifier other players see in EA games and on EA websites and platforms, including EA Forums and the EA app. “Change EA username,” “change EA ID,” and “change EA Public ID” refer to this same account setting.

If you cannot change the ID
If EA says the ID is unavailable or does not meet its content rules, try a different unique ID that follows the length and privacy requirements. If account settings do not let you make the change, EA directs users to contact its customer support team. The guidance does not promise that support can bypass the 30-day limit. Rules may also depend on country laws or when account information was last updated; EA does not provide a country-by-country exception list for EA ID changes.
