To turn crossplay on or off in Monster Hunter Wilds, return to the Title Screen and open Options > Game Settings > Crossplay. Choose Enable or Disable before loading your save; once you have started the game, this setting cannot be changed in the in-game Options menu.
Change the crossplay setting from the Title Screen
- Return to the Title Screen.
- Select Options.
- Open Game Settings.
- Select Crossplay, then choose Enable or Disable.
Capcom’s official online manual gives the menu path as “Options > Game Settings > Crossplay” and says the setting cannot be modified through in-game Options after you select save data and start the game. If you cannot find the switch mid-session, return to the Title Screen.

Enable
With crossplay enabled, you can play with people on any supported platform, including your own. The other players you want to join must also have crossplay enabled.
Disable
With crossplay disabled, you can play only with people on the same platform who have also disabled crossplay. A same-platform player with crossplay enabled cannot join you.

Monster Hunter Wilds supports crossplay between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, as described in Capcom’s platform announcement. The setting is a global on/off choice, not a platform allowlist: it cannot be used to allow one other platform while blocking another.
Limit platforms for a quest without turning crossplay off
If crossplay is enabled but you want to restrict a particular quest or SOS Flare search to your own platform, use Platform Permissions at the Quest Counter and select Your Platform instead of All Platforms. This is a quest-level filter; it does not change your global Crossplay setting.
Crossplay settings and parties or squads
- Link Parties: Members must use the same crossplay setting.
- Squads: The leader’s crossplay setting applies when the squad is established, and the squad’s setting cannot later be changed.
- Changing your setting: If your setting no longer matches a squad’s, you immediately lose access to that squad’s features until it matches again. Changing it while a squad application is pending cancels the application and revokes pending or invited status.
If cross-platform play is temporarily limited
Capcom’s manual notes that cross-platform play may be temporarily limited to players on the same platform in the event of a malfunction or security issue. This is a conditional warning, not an indication that a restriction is currently in effect. Check the game’s official notices if cross-platform play unexpectedly stops working.
