1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf Google’s Pokémon-catching feature is available to you, search for the name of a missing Pokémon from the original 151, then tap the Poké Ball shown in the Search result. Check the feature’s Pokédex to confirm the catch and find clues for the next one. This describes behavior reported in 2025; it has not been confirmed that the feature still works in October 2026.
How to catch a Pokémon in Google Search
- Search for a missing Pokémon by name. Use the species name, not a general query about Pokémon. The reported feature covered the original 151 Pokémon from Generation I.
- Tap the Poké Ball in the Search result. The 2025 reports say this registers the catch.
- Check the Pokédex. Confirm that the entry or catch count changed. The Pokédex reportedly shows silhouettes or hints for species you have not caught; use them to pick another name to search.
- Sign in to a Google Account if you want progress saved. This was the reported save method, not a currently verified requirement.
These steps reflect secondary reporting about the feature in 2025, not confirmed current instructions. The exact interface and save behavior may have changed or disappeared.
What “all 151” means in this game
The Search feature’s reported collection is limited to the original 151 Generation I Pokémon. It is not a guide to catching every Pokémon in the franchise. Since the Pokédex reportedly supplies silhouettes and hints, use its missing entries to guide searches rather than relying on old location lists from another Google Pokémon game.
Is Google’s Pokémon game still available?
Google Search’s Pokémon feature was reported on April 4, 2025, but its availability in October 2026 has not been confirmed. If you do not see a Poké Ball control after searching a Pokémon’s name, the feature may no longer be available to your account or in your region; the evidence does not establish a current workaround.

Do not confuse it with Pokémon Challenge in Google Maps
Google ran a separate, map-based Pokémon event in 2014. In its March 31, 2014 announcement, Google’s Tatsuo Nomura described starting that Maps experience: “Then tap the search bar, ‘press start,’ and begin your quest.” That instruction is for the old Maps event, not the Search feature described above. Encounters in the two experiences worked differently: the Search feature used Pokémon-name queries and a Pokédex of the original 151, while the Maps event placed Pokémon around a map.
