Which Pokémon appeared on each path?
During Legendary Heroes, the free branching Timed Research offered a Sword Path and a Shield Path. Pokémon GO’s official event announcement says the chosen path determined the Collection Challenge and which Pokémon were attracted to Incense for the duration of the event.

The announcement said shiny versions could be encountered if lucky. It describes both paths as awarding items, XP, Stardust and event-themed encounters, but does not provide a complete task-by-task reward comparison. The listed information therefore does not establish that one path had better overall rewards.
How to choose
- Look at the six Incense Pokémon listed for each path and pick the group you wanted to encounter.
- Bear in mind that your path also set your Collection Challenge.
- Make the choice in the context of the event dates: Legendary Heroes ran from September 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. through October 1, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
The official announcement does not say whether players could change paths after choosing, so the available information does not establish whether the choice was reversible.

Event bonuses that were not tied to either path
Some event features applied independently of the Sword-or-Shield choice. The announcement listed a 50% Stardust reduction for Special Trades and said Koffing could evolve into Galarian Weezing. It also included wild encounters, raids such as Zacian in five-star raids, and Field Research rewards; these were event-wide details, not benefits exclusive to either Timed Research path. The announcement also listed a time-limited Ultra Raid Box on the Pokémon GO Web Store, which was an offer for that event rather than a current promotion.
