No—Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is not reported to support cross-platform play. An EA Forums response located in search says players need to be on the same platform to play together. It also says cross-progression is unavailable, so using the same EA account does not carry progress between versions. EA’s official pages confirm which platforms the game is available on, but do not themselves make a cross-play claim.

Can you play Battle for Neighborville with friends on another platform?

According to the EA Forums response, no. A PS4 player should not expect to join a friend on Xbox One, PC, or Nintendo Switch, and the reverse applies as well. Treat the platform versions as separate for online play.

This answer is based on an EA Forums response surfaced in search; the forum page could not be opened for direct inspection. EA’s current product page and help page list the supported platforms but do not explicitly confirm cross-play. See the EA Forums discussion for the reported answer.

Which platforms is the game available on?

EA lists Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The PC version is available through the EA app and Steam. Being available on several platforms does not mean those platforms share online matches.

Does progress carry between platforms?

The same EA Forums response says cross-progression is not available: progress on one platform does not transfer to another, even if you use the same EA account. The response distinguishes account use from shared game progress; signing into the same account is not a way to move a save or unlocks between platform versions.

How online multiplayer differs from couch co-op

Battle for Neighborville offers online multiplayer modes as well as local split-screen couch co-op. EA’s product page specifies that split-screen couch co-op is available only on PS4 and Xbox One. Local co-op on a supported console is not cross-play: it does not let players join an online session from a different platform.

EA’s product page describes six online multiplayer modes, including a 4v4 Battle Arena. These are features of the game, not evidence that its platform communities can match with each other.

Does the Nintendo Switch Complete Edition play with other platforms?

EA’s announcement of the Switch Complete Edition, published February 17, 2021, says it includes characters and content from the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC standard editions, along with post-launch content. It also describes both offline and online play. Those details describe the edition’s content and modes; they do not say that Switch players can join PlayStation, Xbox, or PC online sessions.

The announcement also describes 23 customizable characters and 8v8 multiplayer for the Switch edition. Neither feature figure establishes cross-platform matchmaking. Read the EA Switch Complete Edition announcement for the edition details.
