How to Get to Ruins of Unte in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Reach Ruins of Unte through Shadow Keep’s eastern side: descend to the water, pass behind the waterfall, strike the illusory wall near the painting, then take the revealed coffin to Castle Watering Hole. A dormant Furnace Golem blocks the ruins’ courtyard; reactivate it by throwing a Hefty Furnace Pot into its basket from above.

Travel from Shadow Keep to Castle Watering Hole

1. Progress through Shadow Keep until you reach its eastern side.

2. Find the ladder leading down to the water and descend.

3. Enter the room behind the waterfall. Strike the illusory wall near the painting to reveal the route onward.

How to enter Ruins of Unte

Wake the Furnace Golem

A dormant Furnace Golem blocks the entrance to the courtyard. From an adjacent elevated structure or ledge, throw a Hefty Furnace Pot into its basket, located at its head. The golem will stand and become active.

Get past the active golem

Once it wakes, the golem can attack. Avoid it or defeat it to enter the central courtyard.

Get a Hefty Furnace Pot

The Hefty Furnace Pot recipe comes from the Greater Potentate’s Cookbook (2). The exact cookbook location and the recipe’s crafting materials are not established here; check the cookbook entry and recipe details in an item guide or your in-game inventory before setting out.

What to find nearby

• A chest in the central building contains the Giant Golden Arc spell.

• Castle Watering Hole is west of the ruins, and Recluses’ River Upstream is south of them; both are nearby Sites of Grace.
