Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To add someone on Roblox, search for their exact username, choose the matching account under People, open its profile, and select Add Friend. The other person must accept the request before you become friends.
Send a friend request by username
- Search for the person’s Roblox username using the search field.
- Select People in the search results, then choose the account with the correct username.
- Open the profile and select Add Friend.
- Wait for the other person to accept or decline. Roblox says you’ll receive a notification if they accept. Avoid repeatedly sending requests to the same person; Roblox advises against sending too many.
If Add Friend is not shown, Roblox says the person may already be your friend.
Find the friend controls in the mobile app
Roblox Support’s current mobile instructions give different routes for phones and tablets. App screens and labels may change, so the controls may not appear in exactly the same place on every version.
- Phone: Select More > Friends, then search for the person.
- Tablet: Go to Home and use the search control at the top.
Once you find the matching account, open its profile and select Add Friend.

To review incoming requests, select Add Friends and accept or decline each request. Roblox Support says friend requests expire after two years.
If the friend request does not work
Roblox says a request may not be delivered for several reasons. Check these before trying again:

- A friend or request limit: Roblox Support states a maximum of 1,000 friends. Either account may also have reached the maximum for friend requests.
- Possible bot activity: Roblox systems may detect activity that looks like bot behavior and prevent delivery.
- Age or regional eligibility: Roblox Support says that in Australia, users who have not completed an age check or are under 16 may not receive requests from adults aged 18 or older, or from users who have not completed an age check.
- A request may already be pending: If the profile still shows Add Friend but the other person says nothing arrived, check for an existing request or an account limit before sending another.
Roblox suggests asking the other person to send a request, checking that both accounts are below the applicable limits, or trying again later.
Use Contact Importer only if you want to find people from your contacts
Username search is enough to add a friend; syncing contacts is optional. Roblox’s Contact Importer can help find opted-in Roblox users in a device’s contacts. The route is Add Friends > Connect with Friends.

Roblox says users can consent after phone verification or enable contact syncing later in privacy settings. It stores contact names for future friend matching, but says it does not store phone numbers or email addresses from the uploaded contact book. You can delete synced contact data in privacy settings or revoke the app’s access to device contacts. Share friend invitations only with people you trust.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Trusted Friends are different from regular friends
A regular friend request does not automatically make someone a Trusted Friend. Roblox treats Trusted Friends as a separate feature with age and regional eligibility rules. Users must estimate their age before Trusted Friends options appear, and availability varies by country.

The available upgrade methods depend on the ages and eligibility of both users. Roblox says users aged 12 or younger need a parent to approve each request. Eligible teens may have options such as Contact Importer, live QR scanning, invitation links, or, in some age groups and circumstances, mutual opt-in. Adults’ options also depend on the other user’s age. A screenshot or shared profile link is not a substitute for a live QR scan when upgrading to a Trusted Friend.
If the Trusted Friend option is missing, Roblox identifies incomplete age estimation and regional availability as possible reasons. Check the in-app eligibility information and any parent-approval requirements; the feature is not available to every account in every country.

Roblox says communication options depend on age group, privacy settings, and region. Adding someone as a friend does not guarantee that every chat or voice feature will be available.
