Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 launched on PC on September 5, 2024. It added 13 evil-ending cinematics, an in-game Mod Manager, official PC mod-creation tools, dynamic split-screen behavior, and other gameplay and Honour Mode changes. Mac and console players received the update in October 2024, so “out now” describes the original rollout—not the game’s current version in October 2026.
Patch 7 release dates by platform
Larian announced Patch 7 as live on PC on September 5, 2024. The original PC release notes described an approximately 11.6 GB download and 160 GB of free space required to install it; those are historical figures for that release, not estimates for a present-day reinstall or later game version. Larian’s Patch 7 announcement has the original notes.
Larian said the Mac and console rollout would take longer. Its October 1, 2024 Hotfix 27 announcement said Patch 7 had rolled out to those platforms that day. Xbox Wire described Xbox availability on October 2, 2024, in an article by Larian PR and Communications Director Luke Karmali: Baldur’s Gate 3 Gets New Evil Endings, Mods and More on Xbox.
What Patch 7 added
Thirteen evil-ending cinematics
The update introduced 13 new cinematics for evil playthroughs. Larian said they vary according to player choices and can appear in a new game or an existing save. The setting previously named “Show Cinematic Nudity” was renamed “Show Sexual and Violent Cinematics.” Larian says it controls explicit content and selected extreme-violence moments, including the new evil-ending scenes. See the Patch 7 notes for the update details.

In-game Mod Manager and official creation tools
Patch 7 added an in-game Mod Manager for browsing, installing, enabling, and disabling community mods supported by the official pipeline. Mod creation is a separate process: Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit is a free Steam application for PC, and creating mods with it requires enabling the Toolkit Data DLC in Steam. Larian’s announcement describes official support for some scripted mods made with Osiris, its in-house scripting language. The June 2024 modding update introduced the planned support and tools.
The Toolkit is not the same as the in-game manager, and official support does not make every third-party mod automatically compatible. Larian warns that a game patch can break third-party mods; removing mods can help determine whether they are causing a problem. Its Official Mod Support FAQ also says that everyone in a modded multiplayer group needs the same mods at the same versions.

Dynamic split screen
In split-screen play, the views can merge when the players’ characters come close and separate as they move apart. The change is intended to make local co-op feel less divided when the characters are together, while preserving separate views when they explore apart.
Honour Mode, gameplay changes, and fixes
Larian also listed Honour Mode improvements and new Legendary Actions, gameplay improvements, and bug fixes among Patch 7’s changes. The September PC announcement is the release-note source for those changes; it is not a complete record of later fixes. Hotfix 27, published October 1, 2024, documents follow-up fixes, including changes to Mod Manager behavior.

Using the mod tools and manager
- To browse and manage supported mods: use the in-game Mod Manager to find, install, enable, or disable them.
- To create mods with Larian’s Toolkit: use the separate free Toolkit application on PC through Steam, with Toolkit Data DLC enabled.
- To troubleshoot a mod-related problem: remove mods and check whether the issue remains; a game update may have affected compatibility.
- To play multiplayer with mods: make sure every player has the same mods installed at the same versions.
Larian’s mod support FAQ describes the Toolkit as PC-only, requiring a 64-bit processor and operating system. Its recommended Toolkit specifications are Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i7 8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32 GB RAM, and an Nvidia 2060 Super or AMD RX 5700 XT with at least 8 GB of VRAM. These are recommendations for the Toolkit, not a replacement for Baldur’s Gate 3’s current system requirements.
