You can play Sonic Heroes on PC through its original Windows release, or by emulating a console edition. The Windows version is a 2004 game designed for Windows 98SE through XP, so its historical PC requirements do not guarantee it will install or run on a current Windows system. Console emulation is another possibility, but the available setup information does not confirm how well Sonic Heroes works in a current emulator.
Choose a route to play
SEGA released Sonic Heroes for Windows as well as PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox. Which route makes sense depends on what edition you can legitimately obtain and whether you would rather troubleshoot an old PC game or configure an emulator.

| Original Windows edition | Install the PC release from a legitimate copy. | SEGA lists a Windows release and period system requirements; current-Windows reliability is not established. |

Play the original Windows version
SEGA’s Japanese product page lists the Windows PC release date as December 9, 2004. It describes a PC/AT-compatible version intended for Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP. Those are historical requirements, not a promise of support on Windows 10 or Windows 11. SEGA’s Sonic Heroes Windows PC information
Check the listed requirements
SEGA’s legacy requirements page specifies DirectX 9.0b and the following hardware figures. They describe the original edition, not tested modern-PC performance. SEGA’s PC requirements

The page also calls for Direct3D graphics and a DirectSound-compatible sound card. It does not provide a current supported-resolution or modern-Windows compatibility statement.
Find and verify a legitimate copy
Because a Windows edition existed, searching for an original Sonic Heroes PC release is reasonable. Before buying, verify that the listing is actually for the Windows edition, that the seller includes the expected PC media, and that the edition and condition match your needs. Current physical stock, resale listings, and the old release’s present-day copy-protection behavior are not established here.

SEGA says the PC release supports gamepad input as well as mouse and keyboard, so a controller is optional. The company also describes higher resolution and adjustable graphics options, but does not promise a particular resolution for present-day systems. SEGA’s Sonic Heroes Windows PC information
Use a console edition with an emulator
Sonic Heroes also appeared on PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox. For the PlayStation 2 version, PCSX2 provides Windows installation instructions, including installable and portable options; its guide also identifies the x64 Visual C++ runtime as a requirement. That documentation explains how to set up PCSX2, not whether Sonic Heroes runs correctly in every current version or configuration. PCSX2: Running PCSX2

SEGA’s catalog establishes the console releases, but the sources here do not compare the compatibility or performance of different emulators and versions. Nor do they determine the game- or firmware-acquisition rules that apply where you live. Treat emulation as a possible technical route rather than a verified plug-and-play solution. Check regional digital stores separately
SEGA’s product information confirms that a Windows edition existed historically, but does not establish whether an authorized digital version is currently available in your region. Check storefronts that serve your location rather than assuming the game is either listed or unavailable.

What kind of game is it?
SEGA describes Sonic Heroes as a team-based game with four teams of three characters. You switch among three formations to use the characters’ different actions. That structure is part of the game across its listed platforms; the PC product page separately highlights its adjustable graphics options and mouse-and-keyboard support.
