Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield do not have official PC editions. They are Nintendo Switch games. A third-party yuzu compatibility page reports that they can run in an emulator, but that report is user-submitted—not Nintendo support or a guarantee for your PC. The officially supported way to play is on Nintendo Switch hardware.
Is Pokémon Sword and Shield available on PC?
No official Windows PC release is listed in the games’ product materials. Pokémon describes Sword and Shield as role-playing games developed by GAME FREAK for Nintendo Switch, with retail and downloadable editions. See the official Pokémon Sword and Shield site and its purchase page.
That distinction matters: a game running through third-party software is not the same as a PC port, and it does not mean Nintendo or Pokémon supports PC play.
Can you run the games through an emulator?
A third-party yuzu compatibility entry reports Pokémon Sword and Shield as playable and suggests using a Pro Controller or Dual Joy-Cons in docked mode. The entry is user-submitted; it is not a controlled test, current compatibility guarantee, or official recommendation. It also notes that performance depends on PC hardware, with possible graphics issues and unreliable performance on integrated Intel graphics. It supplies no dependable minimum PC specification or frame-rate figure.

Official Switch play versus PC emulation
| Consideration | Nintendo Switch release | Third-party PC emulation |
|---|---|---|
| Official platform status | Official platform listed by Pokémon. | Not an official PC release; compatibility is reported by a third party. |
| Game access | Retail or downloadable Switch edition listed on Pokémon’s purchase page. | Nintendo says it does not currently offer or authorize a product that allows Nintendo game files to be played or downloaded on PCs. |
| Performance | Designed for the listed Switch platform. | Depends on PC hardware; the user-submitted compatibility entry notes possible graphics issues and unreliable integrated Intel GPU performance. |
| Online play | Some online features require internet access, a Nintendo Account, and a separately sold Nintendo Switch Online membership. | The reviewed sources do not establish access to official online play through an emulator. |
Game files, copyright, and legal risk
Nintendo’s copyright and intellectual-property FAQ warns that uploading or downloading pirate copies of its games is illegal and warns against illegal circumvention of copyright protections. It also says Nintendo does not currently offer or authorize a product for playing or downloading Nintendo game files on PCs.

Online features and account risks
Pokémon’s official game information says some online features require an internet connection, a Nintendo Account, and a separately sold Nintendo Switch Online membership. The available official information does not confirm that an emulator can safely or reliably access official online play or Pokémon HOME.

For the official release, use a Nintendo Switch and a retail or downloadable copy of Sword or Shield from the official purchase options. The Expansion Pass is additional content, not a replacement for the base game: Pokémon says it requires the full game and must match Sword or Shield.
