Frozen Trail 2.0 launched on October 8, 2026, and changed the tree’s choices. Check the current in-game tree before spending points; older skill guides may describe a different version.
What changed in the skill tree with Frozen Trail 2.0?
Embark says the October 8, 2026 update revamped the tree to improve underperforming skills and make player choice and expression a more central feature. Its official patch notes describe new branch choices: at the middle of each branch, players choose one of two skills; at the end, they can choose up to two of three skills after the required investment. The studio also says the system may be adjusted further as it observes how players use it.
The three tracks remain Conditioning, Mobility, and Survival. The Steam game description frames them broadly: Conditioning enhances strength and stamina, Mobility helps players outmaneuver threats, and Survival supports looting and quieter movement. A current community tree listing describes additional emphasis on resilience, carrying capacity, melee, traversal, crafting, and staying alive. Exact node details and requirements below are community-listed and may change.

These recommendations cover different kinds of utility rather than claiming one universally optimal build. The middle- and end-of-branch choices mean you may have to give up one useful skill to take another.

Increases maximum stamina. Consider it if you value sustained sprinting and traversal across a raid.

Speeds climbing and vaulting. It is most useful when your routes frequently involve vertical movement or quick climbs.

Fight or Flight
Restores stamina after you take combat damage, subject to a cooldown. Embark says the stamina gained per level increased by about 25% in Frozen Trail 2.0. That is a stated balance change, not evidence that the skill is the strongest choice.

Vaults on Vaults on Vaults
Makes vaulting cost no stamina. It competes with Vault Spring at the first Mobility choice: choose between free vaults and the alternative’s jump at the end of a vault according to the routes you actually take.

Field Repair
Allows in-round repairs to weapons, shields, and gadgets up to 30% durability, according to the community tree listing. It is useful for a repair-focused approach, but competes with other final Survival options.

Nomadic Crafting
Expands the range of items you can field-craft. The community listing places it among Survival’s final choices, so weigh broader crafting against other capstones such as Field Repair.

Allows you to breach Security Lockers. Choose it if you deliberately pursue those lockers; it competes with other final Conditioning options.

- Quiet looting or breaching: Silent Scavenger supports quieter scavenging, while Security Breach is for players who actively seek Security Lockers.
- Broader crafting or repairs: Nomadic Crafting expands field-crafting options; Field Repair is specifically for repairing equipment during a raid.
- Security Lockers or another capstone: Security Breach is a final Conditioning choice, while Field Repair and Nomadic Crafting are final Survival choices. Your available allocation may not allow all three, so inspect the current tree before committing.
- Free vaults or vault-ending jumps: Vaults on Vaults on Vaults and Vault Spring are competing first Mobility choices; favor the effect that fits your common routes.
What the available build advice can—and cannot—establish
Power Up Gaming’s October 8, 2026 build guide offers one 76-point allocation built around Pendola Pass, moving from mobility and stamina toward looting, crafting, carrying capacity, and breaching. Treat it as an example for a particular approach, not a universal recommendation.
A PC Gamer preview published October 7, 2026 describes a limited hands-on session before launch. Its writer found the abilities did not yet transform their play and that many nodes felt incremental. That is one preview writer’s short experience, not a comparative test or a community consensus.
Embark’s official notes also report other balance changes, including about a 33% increase to Stubborn Mule stamina-regeneration values and Back on Your Feet healing rising from 30 to 40. Those changes may matter to players comparing the broader tree, but they do not establish a ranking among the ten recommendations above.
For context only, the Epic Games Store skill guide dated October 29, 2025 covers the pre-rework tree. Treat its recommendations as historical: names, placements, or effects may have changed after Frozen Trail 2.0.
How many skill points are available?
The Steam store description says skill points are earned through leveling. Arc Raiders Hub lists 76 base skill points at maximum level, with possible additional points from an Expedition. That figure is community-maintained game-system data, not a player-performance statistic; check the in-game tree for your current total and available choices.
No stable post-update competitive consensus or independent win-rate comparison is established by the available sources. Embark launched the rework on October 8, 2026 and says it may adjust the system further, so treat any “best skills” list as provisional rather than a tested meta.
