Cindershelly is a Legendary Order energy shield in Borderlands 4. It builds Resolve stacks as it takes damage, then releases an elemental Nova when it breaks. The dedicated farm is The Backhive in The Claim, while the shield’s unusual voice lines are still part of the item—just less frequent since an October 2025 update.
Where does Cindershelly drop?
The dedicated source is The Backhive, a boss in The Claim, an abandoned Auger Mine in the Dissected Plateau sub-region of the Fadefields. The route is near the Zadra’s Backup Plan fast travel station. Lootlemon lists a 9% Cindershelly drop rate; that is a database-listed rate, not a promise that the shield will drop on any particular kill. The same listing shows a worldwide shield pool, so Cindershelly may also be available through broader shield loot sources.

How to farm Cindershelly
- Travel to Zadra’s Backup Plan fast travel station in the Dissected Plateau, in the Fadefields.
- Enter The Claim and make your way through the abandoned Auger Mine to The Backhive.
- Defeat The Backhive and check the drops for Cindershelly.
- Use the Encore Machine to repeat the boss encounter and continue farming. This is the repeat-farm route recommended by Mobalytics’ Cindershelly guide.
What Cindershelly does: current stats and effect
When Cindershelly takes damage, it gains Resolve stacks, up to 25. Each stack grants +2% damage resistance and +25% Nova damage. When the shield breaks, it consumes the accumulated stacks and releases an elemental splash Nova. Resolve stacks do not decay before they are used, and the Nova can trigger once per full shield charge.

At the 25-stack cap, the shield has accumulated +50% damage resistance and +625% Nova damage from Resolve. Those are stack-based bonuses, not a fixed Nova damage number: the shield’s randomized stats and augments vary between drops. The +25% Nova damage per stack is the current listed value; older guides showing +20% per stack or a fixed base Nova value predate subsequent changes. Lootlemon’s changelog attributes the increase to the May 7, 2026 update.
The shield comes in kinetic, fire, shock, corrosive, cryo, and radiation variants. When comparing drops, check the element, capacity, recharge stats, and augments rather than assuming one universal stat line. Lootlemon lists augments including Capacity, Absorb, Adaptive, Resistance, and Amp; which combination is useful depends on the build and the role you want the shield to fill.

Why does Cindershelly talk?
Cindershelly has a voice module with suggestive or dirty combat lines. Those lines were not removed, but the October 23, 2025 update reduced how often they play. The patch note reproduced in Lootlemon’s changelog says: “Order Legendary Shield Cindershelly combat voice lines now trigger at the intended frequency, less often to be less distracting.” No current exact trigger interval is established, so a specific number of seconds between lines should not be treated as universal.
