Dungeons of Hinterberg has a 16-character relationship roster, according to its community-maintained wiki. Spending an evening with someone can do more than advance their story: relationships may unlock items, skills, information, stat increases, and even new systems. The best person to visit depends on whether you want a combat upgrade, help with dungeon progression, or simply prefer their company.
How character relationships work
Luisa explores the magical dungeons of Hinterberg by day and can spend evening time with one person. Building a connection can provide a practical reward as well as story context. Xbox Wire describes possible rewards including items, skills, and information; Microbird co-founder Philipp Seifried also says relationship milestones can increase HP or MP or unlock systems such as photo mode, a combo counter, or weapon upgrades. Xbox Wire’s interview with Microbird and its game feature overview explain the broad relationship loop.
The wiki lists the progression labels as Met, Acquainted, Buddies, Friends, and Besties. It says most characters have three reachable levels, while Alex and Hannah have four, and reports that relationship progression can grant Luisa 40 maximum health. These specific level and reward details come from a community-maintained wiki, not the official sources cited above, so treat them as secondary-source information. The wiki’s relationship page is the reference for those details.

The same wiki separately lists other named NPCs, including David, Karin Wagner, the Monster Club, Franz, and Theresa. They are not part of its 16-person relationship roster. The wiki describes itself as under construction, so this is a secondary roster reference rather than an official cast list.
Who should you spend evenings with?
Choose based on the reward you want, how interested you are in a character’s story, and any prerequisites for progressing that relationship. Official coverage gives examples of what the system can offer, but it does not provide a complete reward-by-character chart. These are useful starting points, not a comprehensive list of every character’s rewards.

For weapon upgrades: Hannah
Hannah’s smithy is the clearest combat-focused example in Xbox Wire’s overview: developing that connection can lead to powerful sword enchantments. If improving Luisa’s weapon is your immediate priority, she is a sensible person to visit.
For combat abilities: a pro slayer
Xbox Wire says a pro slayer may teach Luisa a special attack. That makes a slayer a potentially useful choice if you want to expand your combat options; the overview does not identify a specific character or spell out the full conditions for earning the ability.

For dungeon guidance: a helpful friend
A friend may share information that helps locate or access a dungeon. This can be more useful than a combat reward when your next goal is exploration or progression, although the official overview does not assign this example to a named character.
For companionship: Dog
Dog is included among the wiki’s relationship characters. The official overview uses the village dog as an example of a choice for players motivated by affection rather than optimization. There is no need to treat every evening as a min-maxing decision: Seifried says players can choose someone whose company they enjoy and play at a relaxed pace.

What the sources establish—and what they do not
Microbird’s official press kit describes 25 magical dungeons, while Xbox Wire characterizes the game as blending action, RPG, and social-simulation elements. Together, those sources support the idea that relationships are part of Luisa’s wider progression, not a separate dialogue-only activity. Microbird’s press kit covers the game premise, and Seifried discusses its mix of systems in an Xbox Wire interview.
The official material supports the broad kinds of relationship rewards, but it does not establish every character’s personality, full story arc, prerequisites, or exact reward sequence. The named roster and level details above rely on the under-construction community wiki. For a specific reward, check the current game rather than assuming every wiki entry or general example applies to a particular character.
