In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the Gold Saucer companion is determined by Cloud’s affinity with the party: your strongest relationship at the time shapes the Chapter 8 tour and, later, the main Chapter 12 date. Affinity builds through character-specific quests, dialogue, combat Synergy actions, and story choices. After finishing the story, you can select and replay date scenes through Extra Settings and Chapter Selection.
There are two Gold Saucer outings

The Chapter 8 outing is an earlier relationship checkpoint, not a lock on the Chapter 12 partner. The game continues tracking relationships as you play. For the main date, individual outcomes are available for Tifa, Aerith, Yuffie, Barret, and Red XIII. A group outing with Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid is also possible.
How affinity builds
Affinity accumulates across the adventure rather than coming from a single final choice. To favor a particular character, make choices that consistently involve them:
- Complete their associated Odd Jobs. Side quests are linked to particular companions. Completing one strengthens that character’s relationship, and perfect completion can award more progress.
- Choose dialogue responses carefully. Optional conversations have response options, and selected answers can improve the relationship with the character you are speaking to.
- Use Synergy Skills and Abilities with Cloud. These combat actions can raise affinity for the companion involved.
- Pay attention to story decisions. Fixed events and choices, including the parade and beach decisions, can affect relationship scores.
Because several kinds of actions contribute over time, there is no universal single dialogue answer that guarantees a particular date partner. Aiming for one character means favoring their relevant quests, conversations, Synergy actions, and story choices as you progress.

What changes between the date outcomes?
The Chapter 12 scene has standard and more intimate conclusions for Tifa, Aerith, Yuffie, Barret, and Red XIII. The group outing featuring Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid does not have an intimate conclusion. These variations shape the Gold Saucer scenes and character interactions; they are not a deep romance path or a major branching campaign system.

On a first playthrough, the scene follows affinity. Manual date selection is available after completing the story: set the companion and, where available, the desired conclusion in Extra Settings, then replay the relevant chapter so the scene can occur.

- Open System > Extra Settings and choose the companion and available date conclusion you want.
- Open System > Chapter Selection and replay Chapter 8 or Chapter 12, depending on which outing you want to see.
- Play through the chapter to the Gold Saucer event. Changing the menu setting alone does not show the scene; you must replay to its point in the chapter.
This lets you see other variations without relying on a first-run affinity result. The mechanic is separate from party level and chiefly affects the relationship scenes rather than core combat progression.
