Download BG3 Mod Manager from LaughingLeader’s official GitHub repository. Open its latest release, download BG3ModManager_Latest.zip, extract it to a folder your Windows account can write to, then run BG3ModManager.exe. The project identifies its repository as the only official download source; it does not have a separate official website.
Before you download
BG3 Mod Manager is portable software: its documented setup is to extract a ZIP archive rather than run a conventional installer. Prepare the game and required runtimes first:
- Launch Baldur’s Gate 3 at least once. The project says this creates the game profile and Mods folders the manager needs.
- Install .NET 8.0 and the latest Microsoft C++ redistributable, as listed in the project’s setup instructions.
Download and launch BG3 Mod Manager
- Go to the LaughingLeader BG3 Mod Manager repository, then follow its link to the latest release.
- Download
BG3ModManager_Latest.zipfrom the release assets. - Extract the ZIP to a folder where your Windows user account has write permissions. Avoid protected locations such as
Program Files. - Open the extracted folder and run
BG3ModManager.exe.
The release listing showed version 1.0.12.9, dated May 18, 2025, when checked. That is point-in-time release information, not a promise that it remains the latest; check the official releases page for the current version and download.
If BG3 Mod Manager does not find the game
The project says the game data and executable paths should be detected automatically. If they are not:

Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!
- In the manager, open Settings → Preferences.
- Enter the correct game data and executable paths, then save and refresh.
- If you changed the Game Data path, restart the manager so campaign data loads.
Export your mod load order
Arrange the active mods under the Public profile, then select Export Load Order to Game. This writes the load order to modsettings.lsx. Restart Baldur’s Gate 3 after changing the load order.
Use the official download source
The project’s README says, “This is the only official source for the BG3 Mod Manager.” Use the LaughingLeader repository and its linked releases rather than treating third-party mirrors as official downloads.
