The client lets you browse and install content on the console. You can also use FBI to install 3hs from a QR code or install a downloaded CIA file manually.
What you need before installing hShop
- A Nintendo 3DS-family system, including a 2DS.
- Custom firmware (CFW). hShop says this is required whether you use 3hs or FBI. Follow the maintained 3ds.hacks.guide; hShop discourages using other guides, particularly video guides. Installing CFW carries risk, and hShop says users are responsible for actions on their devices.
- A working network connection for online downloads.
- An SD or microSD card with enough free space for the content you choose.

Choose an installation method

Install hShop’s 3hs client
- Install CFW by following 3ds.hacks.guide. hShop states that the console must have CFW before installing 3hs.
- Open hShop’s 3hs page on a computer or smartphone and choose the client download. The page offers CIA and 3DSX files; the CIA route uses FBI.
- Install and launch 3hs on the console, then connect to the network and browse for the content you want.
- Check the available space on your SD or microSD card before starting a download.
hShop describes 3hs as supporting queued installs, resuming downloads after network interruptions, and finding missing updates or DLC. These are features stated by hShop, not an independent performance or safety guarantee.
Install through FBI with a QR code
- Open the hShop 3hs page on a computer or smartphone so its QR code is visible.
- On the 3DS, open FBI and choose Remote Install, then Scan QR Code.
- Point the console’s outer cameras at the QR code and confirm the installation when prompted.
Scan the 3hs QR code through FBI—not the Nintendo 3DS Camera. hShop advises against using the 3DS browser to open its website.

Install a CIA file manually
- Download the CIA file on another device.
- Copy it to the SD or microSD card using a card reader, or transfer it over FTP.
- If you used a card reader, safely eject the card before removing it. Put it back in the console.
- Open FBI, select SD Card, locate the CIA file, and choose the install option.
Make sure the card has room for the file and the installed content. The manual route requires transferring the file to the card before FBI can install it.
