Lethal Company’s Version 47 update introduced weekly challenge moons: shared, seed-based runs that let players compare how much profit they earn during the challenge day. The update was announced on January 8, 2024. Its notes describe how the mode worked at release, but do not confirm whether it remains available or unchanged in the current game build.
What are challenge moons in Lethal Company?
Version 47’s challenge moons were weekly runs built around a common random seed. The seed was based on the current week in the UTC time zone, so players could take on the same seeded challenge and share the experience. The developer described the feature as being “less for competition and more to give us all a shared experience.” (Version 47 announcement on Steam.)
These runs were not simply ordinary moons with a new name. The patch notes say they could have randomly generated names, increased amounts of scrap, random starting credits, and other randomly tweaked properties.
How did the weekly challenge leaderboard work?
At the end of the challenge day, the run’s profit was uploaded to a leaderboard so players could compare their efficiency with friends. The announcement does not describe the leaderboard as a system for verifying fair play, nor does it provide details about rankings or scoring beyond the end-of-day profit upload.

When does the weekly challenge reset?
The Version 47 notes say the seed was based on the current week in UTC. They do not give an exact reset time, so the notes alone do not establish the hour or minute when one weekly challenge ended and the next began.
How to get the same challenge moon as other players
The developer advised players using modded clients to turn off all mods to guarantee they got the same moon as everyone else. The shared seed was intended to provide a common run; the patch notes do not explain how individual mods might alter a session.

What else changed in Version 47?
The January 8, 2024 update also made several seeded outcomes deterministic: random lightning-strike positions, scrap-item positions, the inverse teleporter’s destination, and gift-box contents. Other additions and changes included:
- Public lobby server tags: Players could enter a tag to filter the public lobby list.
- Factory map: A hallway type was added.
- Thumpers: Their movement was reworked so animation and acceleration would be more consistent.
What is known about the mode today?
The official announcement documents what Version 47 introduced at release. It does not establish whether challenge moons remain available, whether their mechanics are unchanged in a later build, or what the leaderboard’s current status is.
