That is one reviewer’s experience, not a claim that every player will find the game difficult.
What the review says makes play frustrating
The review describes a chain of readability problems rather than one especially hard puzzle. In dark scenes, the reviewer says it was difficult to spot objects that could be interacted with. That uncertainty carried into movement and encounters: the reviewer struggled to read the 2.5D platforming and to land attacks as Low.

The review also describes a crank-and-platform puzzle in which the reviewer could not anticipate when the AI companion would help. Without clear timing or signaling, it was hard to tell whether to wait, act, or try a different solution. The reviewer says the lack of light did not create fear for them; it made the surroundings harder to parse.

Can you play alone, online, or on the couch?
Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe says players can face the game’s fears “together with a friend using online co-op, or solo with an AI companion.” The publisher lists no local couch co-op mode, and the reproduced review states, “there’s no couch co-op mode.” If you want to play with someone beside you on the same screen, the listed options do not provide that; the co-op option is online.
That distinction matters for the puzzle complaint: solo play relies on an AI companion, while online co-op lets a friend join. The review’s account of unclear AI timing is relevant to solo players, but it does not establish how every puzzle feels in online co-op.

What options might help with readability?
The review acknowledges accessibility options including object outlines, font adjustment, and brightness. Object outlines may help make interactable objects easier to distinguish; brightness adjustment may help with dark scenes. Those options do not, by themselves, establish that the reviewer’s separate concerns about platforming, combat readability, or AI companion signaling are resolved.
Bandai Namco lists Little Nightmares III for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with a release date of 10 October 2025. The official product page describes physical Standard, Deluxe, Mirror, and Premium Spiral editions; which editions appear depends on country and platform selections. Selected editions include collectibles or an artbook and soundtrack.

What else is included in the publisher’s edition and DLC listings?
The official page identifies The Backstage and The Shores as DLC. It says The Shores is included in the Secrets of The Spiral Expansion Pass and warns buyers to avoid duplicate purchases. Check the edition and add-on contents for your region and platform before buying, since the publisher’s listings vary by country and platform filter.
