Find the O Mother gesture north of Bonny Village in Scadu Altus, beside a withered tree near the cliff edge. To reach the village, descend into the underground passage at Moorth Ruins and climb the ladder at its far end. Later, perform the gesture in front of the Marika statue beside the Shadow Keep, Back Gate Site of Grace to open the route to the Hinterland.
How to reach Bonny Village from Moorth Ruins
- Start at the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace in Scadu Altus. Head to the ruined church and descend through the opening into the underground passage.
- Follow the tunnel to its ladder and climb out. You will emerge in Bonny Village; activate the Bonny Village Site of Grace.
Where to pick up O Mother
- Follow the village’s bridge route to the first broken bridge and cross or jump it.
- Before taking the longer route over the second bridge, turn north. Look for a withered tree near the cliff edge and a headless statue or body beside it.
- Interact with the object to collect the O Mother gesture. Walkthroughs describe it as either a headless statue or a villager’s body, but place it at the same tree-and-cliff landmark.
How to use O Mother at Shadow Keep
Continue through Shadow Keep to the Back Gate. The route described by AUTOMATON WEST passes through the Church District, where a lever drains the water, then through the Storehouse and lifts to the Back Gate Site of Grace. The Marika statue is beside the grace. Stand directly in front of it and perform O Mother; the statue moves and reveals the passage to the Hinterland. Where the passage leads
The newly opened passage leads into the Hinterland, with routes toward Shaman Village and the Finger Ruins of Dheo. AUTOMATON WEST also reports two Tree Sentinel bosses along routes toward those areas, so activate the nearby Hinterland Site of Grace before exploring further.
A message reported near Shadow Keep, Back Gate reads, “Have mercy. For the spirited-away shamans.” This is an in-game message from an unnamed speaker, not an attributed statement from the developers; its wording alone does not confirm a particular lore interpretation.
