Reports said a now-removed ESRB listing assigned it an M rating for “Blood and Gore, Strong Language and Violence.” The game was later officially revealed in May 2026, so this is no longer just a leak story.
What the ESRB leak reportedly revealed
PC Gamer reported on October 11, 2025, that an ESRB page for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 had briefly appeared and was gone by the time of publication. The listing reportedly gave the game an M rating and used the descriptors “Blood and Gore, Strong Language and Violence.” ComicBook.com reported the same descriptors the following day.
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |

Predator: Hunting Grounds - PlayStation 5 | $22.34 | Buy on Amazon |
| 2 |
|
PS5 Alien: Fire Team Elite Special Edition | $68.00 | Buy on Amazon |
| 3 |

Aliens: Dark Descent PS5 | $42.00 | Buy on Amazon |
Those details describe what outlets said was on a removed listing; they are not a substitute for a current ESRB page. The M rating signals mature content, and the listed wording makes clear that violence, gore and strong language were part of the rating report. PC Gamer’s October 2025 report also noted that a listing error could not be ruled out at the time. ComicBook.com’s report likewise treated official confirmation as outstanding then.
Which game is it, and what platforms were reported?
The title was Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, not a generic new game in the broader Alien universe. The removed ESRB listing reportedly named PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox as platforms. Those platform details come from coverage of the listing, rather than a current store page.

The sequel also fits Cold Iron Studios’ earlier public comments: in 2023, the studio said it was developing a new title intended to build on the success of Aliens: Fireteam Elite, without explicitly calling that project a sequel. The listing provided a possible name for that project, but the official reveal came later.
From leak to official reveal
- October 11, 2025: PC Gamer reported that the ESRB listing had appeared and been removed.
- October 12, 2025: ComicBook.com covered the leak and rating descriptors, with official confirmation still pending at that point.
- May 2026: Windows Central reported that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 had been officially revealed, with IGN premiering a reveal trailer. Windows Central’s May 7, 2026 report is the source for that reveal detail.
That sequence matters: October’s report was a leak from a removed listing, while later coverage described an official reveal. The leaked rating descriptors and platform names should still be attributed to the listing reports unless confirmed in current official materials.

Don’t confuse it with Alien Deathstorm
Alien Deathstorm is a separate game announced by Xbox in March 2026. Xbox describes it as a Rebellion action-horror game set on a storm-damaged off-world colony; it is not the Aliens: Fireteam Elite sequel. Xbox Wire’s announcement identifies it as its own project.

The listing reports do not establish a price, release date, preorder, physical edition or current retail availability. Nor do the reported rating descriptors tell players how the game’s combat, story or co-op systems will differ from the first Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Treat those as unanswered unless official materials or current retailer listings confirm them.
