To neutralize Frost Anomalies in FBC: Firebreak, use heat: activate a portable heater or use the Splash Kit’s Teapot. Ordinary gunfire does not affect them, according to the community-maintained Freezer Duty wiki. Remedy’s 1.6.2 patch notes also say Frost Anomalies display health bars.
How to neutralize Frost Anomalies in Freezer Duty
Freezer Duty asks players to disperse Frost Anomalies in its first two zones. Apply heat to the anomaly itself rather than trying to damage it with a standard weapon.
- Identify the objective. Check that the task is to disperse Frost Anomalies in Freezer Duty, rather than a different hazard or Corrupted Item.
- Apply heat. Use a portable heater placed in the area, or equip the Splash Kit and use its Teapot. The community wiki identifies both as effective ways to melt Frost Anomalies.
- Track its health bar. Frost Anomalies have visible health bars in update 1.6.2, according to Remedy’s patch notes.
- Confirm the objective registers. If progress does not advance, check that heat is reaching the anomaly itself and allow the game to register its removal before moving on. This follows from the described countermeasure and objective; it is not a separately verified troubleshooting fix.
Do not spend time firing ordinary guns at Frost Anomalies: the community-maintained wiki says gunfire has no effect.
Frost Anomalies and Corrupted Items use different counters
“Anomaly” can refer loosely to unusual hazards, but the Frost Anomalies in Freezer Duty are not the same mechanic as Corrupted Items. Use the current objective text and in-game tutorial to identify what the crisis requires.

Why the instructions may look different after Breakpoint
Remedy’s Breakpoint update replaced the Job Board with the Crisis Board and added Outbreak, weapon modifications, additional heavy weapons and grenades, enemies, and onboarding changes. The Crisis Board and current job instructions are the better guide when deciding which hazard you are facing; an update can add or change objectives without making their counters interchangeable.
FBC: Firebreak is a three-player cooperative first-person shooter. Remedy lists its release date as June 17, 2025, on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
