Black Ops 6 Ranked Play is a competitive Multiplayer playlist built around Call of Duty League-style rules. You earn or lose Skill Rating (SR) through matches, climb from Bronze toward the Top 250, and pursue rewards that vary by season. The latest BO6 rules documented here are from Season 06 in 2025; they do not establish whether the playlist or those rules remain available or unchanged on October 8, 2026.
What Ranked Play is
Ranked Play puts Multiplayer matches under settings, maps, modes, and weapon restrictions aligned with the Call of Duty League (CDL). It is a competitive ladder, not a separate way to play Warzone Ranked. Your visible rank reflects SR progression, while match rules and eligibility details can change between seasons.
How to unlock Ranked Play
Activision’s launch overview and Season 06 patch notes documented a requirement of 50 wins in matchmade Multiplayer for new competitors. Season 06 also said that returning players who had been inactive for an extended period might need 10 wins to requalify. Those are season-dated requirements, not verified current requirements.
The Season 06 notes also excluded PC Game Pass Free Trial accounts from Multiplayer Ranked Play. Check the rules shown in-game for the season you are playing, since the available evidence does not confirm whether these conditions still apply.
#1 Best Overall
- Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower.
- This is signature Black Ops across a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, and the epic return of Round-Based Zombies.
- The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
- In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
- Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
How SR and ranks work
Wins and losses move your SR up or down. The launch overview said the SR awarded for a win depends on how far you are from your projected rank, your match performance, and the margin of victory. Season 01 notes also said individual and team performance affect SR, with team performance carrying more weight at higher ranks. Activision did not publish an exact per-match formula in these sources, so there is no reliable fixed SR amount to expect from a win.
At the start of BO6’s first Ranked season, players began at Bronze I with 0 SR. The Season 01 patch notes documented these thresholds:
| Rank | Season 01 SR threshold |
|---|---|
| Bronze | Starting rank: Bronze I at 0 SR |
| Silver | 900 SR |
| Gold | 2,100 SR |
| Platinum | 3,600 SR |
| Diamond | 5,400 SR |
| Crimson | 7,500 SR |
| Iridescent | 10,000 SR |
| Top 250 | More than 10,000 SR and a place among the top 250 players on the leaderboard |
Ranks below Iridescent have three tiers. Top 250 is not simply another SR threshold: reaching more than 10,000 SR does not guarantee a place, because leaderboard placement is also required. Thresholds above are the Season 01 figures, not a guarantee of the current ladder.

What happens in a Ranked match
Maps and modes
The launch overview described a pre-match veto: the lobby presents three map-and-mode combinations, and each team votes to remove one. The remaining option is played. If both teams veto the same option, one of the other two is selected at random.
Forfeits
In Hardpoint, Control, and Search & Destroy, a team can unanimously vote to forfeit at designated points in the match. Under the launch overview’s rules, a forfeit counted as a loss but did not incur an SR penalty or suspension. Exact timing and rules may be season-specific.
Parties and matchmaking
In the launch overview, a full party of four could queue together regardless of individual ranks, but matchmaking used the highest-ranked player in that party. Parties of two or three remained subject to rank restrictions. The overview does not establish exact rank bands for those smaller parties, so consult the applicable in-game season rules rather than assuming a current restriction.

What happens to your rank at a season change
BO6’s documented reset rules varied by rank. Bronze and Silver carried over without an SR deduction; Gold and Platinum began the next season at Tier I of the same rank; Diamond and higher began at Diamond I. These are the rules documented in BO6 launch and Season 01 materials, not a verified description of later seasons.
Loss protection also had season-specific details. The launch overview described one forgiveness for the first loss of each day, which did not stack, plus three protected losses at the start of a season or after promotion; the protection count went down only when a loss occurred. Season 06 notes described three protected losses at season start and a daily forgiveness loss. Treat these as documented rules from their respective seasons, not confirmed current settings.

What Ranked rewards you can earn
Activision’s BO6 materials distinguish career progression from rewards tied to a season. Career win challenges can grant persistent items, while rank rewards and leaderboard rewards have their own eligibility and timing.

- Career wins: The official materials describe win challenges, including Season 06 examples of an AMES 85 blueprint at 10 Ranked wins and a large decal at 100 wins.
- Rank rewards: Season 01 notes said Gold-through-Iridescent rank skins were granted upon first reaching the rank. Season 06 listed rank-themed camos for Gold and above, and calling cards for Silver and above.
- Top 250 rewards: These are tied to finishing the season in the Top 250, not merely touching that rank during the season. Season 06 named a Champion calling card for the player who finished first.
The listed items are examples from Season 06, not a current reward catalogue. Reaching a rank during a season and ending it in the Top 250 are different achievements with different reward conditions.
What is—and is not—confirmed for 2026
Activision’s BO6 Season 06 patch notes, published October 7, 2025, are the newest BO6 Multiplayer Ranked rules documented here. They do not confirm whether Black Ops 6 Ranked Play is still available on October 8, 2026, or whether its eligibility, protections, rank thresholds, party limits, and rewards have changed since then. The article’s specific requirements and examples should therefore be read as historical season rules rather than a live status notice.
