For a quick daily puzzle, start with Wordle or Connections; for open-ended word finding, try Spelling Bee; for a two-player match, try Crossplay. Which game should you play?
For a quick deduction puzzle: Wordle
Wordle gives you six attempts to identify a five-letter answer. Its fixed target and limited guesses make it a natural choice when you want one compact puzzle rather than an open-ended session.
For pattern-spotting: Connections
Connections asks you to sort 16 terms into four groups. The challenge is recognizing the relationship that links a set of words, including when a tempting word seems to fit more than one category.

- IT'S BACK!: Originally produced in the 1980's this is Yahtzee but with letters and words instead of numbers
- 7 LETTER DICE: Instead of 7 regular dice like in standard Yahtzee, you get 7 Letter Dice to spell words and combinations
- FAMILIAR SCORESHEET: The Yahtzee Words Scoresheet is split between an Upper Section and Lower Section just like standard Yahtzee. You must fill in a score on every turn - and try to get that Upper Bonus to score big
- NOT JUST WORDS: Yes you'll need to make clever 2 to 6 Letter Words, but you'll also need to get All Consonants, All Vowels, Multiple Words, and the EXTREMELY rare 7 letter word Yahtzee
- SKILLS: This isn't just for experienced word game players. Anyone who is 8 or older can play! Your vocabulary will likely improve - as will your word/letter jumble skills
Archive rules for the other games aren’t established here, so check each game’s current page rather than assuming it offers the same replay options.
Quick Recap
How to pick a game that will stick
- Choose a mechanic you enjoy. Wordle is deduction; Connections is association; Strands is themed search; Spelling Bee is word generation; crosswords are clue solving; Crossplay is competitive construction.
- Match the session to your available time. A constrained daily puzzle has a natural stopping point; open-ended word finding and a full crossword can invite a longer session. Solve times depend on the player, so there is no reliable universal time estimate.
- Decide whether you want solo or social play. Most of the listed daily puzzles are solo experiences. Crossplay is explicitly built for two-player competition.
- Consider language and references. Word lists and category clues can rely on the language and cultural references used in a puzzle. If those don’t feel familiar, a game may be less satisfying; there is no complete cross-language comparison established for these options.
