The clips raised questions about EA’s Javelin anti-cheat and mandatory Secure Boot, but they do not independently confirm that every player shown was cheating or faced enforcement. EA said its protections blocked attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls, while acknowledging that Secure Boot was never meant to stop every cheat.
What the Battlefield 6 beta wallhack clips showed
During the Open Beta Early Access period in August 2025, players shared clips they said showed opponents using wallhacks—cheats that reveal enemies through obstacles. PC Gamer reported on those allegations on August 8. The available coverage establishes that accusations and clips circulated; it does not establish the identity, intent, or enforcement outcome for every player depicted.
That distinction matters in a shooter where a surprising kill, a sound cue, or an opponent’s positioning can look suspicious in a short clip. A report or a clip can give an anti-cheat team a lead to investigate, but neither alone is a verified finding. No independent published estimate of the true share of beta matches affected by undetected cheating is established by the cited coverage.
What EA said its anti-cheat stopped—and what the figures mean
On August 8, 2025, EA’s SPEAR Anti-Cheat Team said Javelin had prevented 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls since Early Access began. EA also reported 44,000 reports of potential cheaters on day one and another 60,000 “so far today.” The post did not say those reports represented unique players or confirmed cases.

These figures describe different things: blocked attempts are actions EA said its system prevented, while player reports are allegations submitted for review. Neither is a confirmed-cheater headcount, and comparing the totals as though they measured the same population would be misleading. EA said its Gameplay Integrity and Positive Play teams used the information to improve detections and remove players confirmed to be cheating.
In a later retrospective, Windows Central reported EA’s figures of more than 1.2 million blocked cheating attempts over the beta, a rise in cheater-free matches from 93.1% to 98%, and Secure Boot adoption rising from 62.5% to 92.5%. These are EA-reported beta-period figures, not live metrics or an independent measurement of cheating prevalence. They also do not identify how many suspected cheaters were confirmed.

Does Secure Boot stop cheats in Battlefield 6?
No. EA required Secure Boot for PC beta access and described it as an added security barrier that can provide useful detection signals. The company’s August 4, 2025 Secure Boot explanation listed threats including kernel-level cheats and rootkits, memory manipulation and injection, spoofing, virtual machines and emulation, and anti-cheat tampering.
But EA’s anti-cheat team explicitly said Secure Boot “is not, and was not intended to be a silver bullet.” Battlefield 6 technical director Christian Buhl likewise told PC Gamer on August 28, 2025, “Of course, we’re never going to solve all cheating problems, but Secure Boot is a hugely helpful tool in tackling cheating.” The requirement adds friction and helps Javelin defend and detect; it does not guarantee that every cheat will be prevented or identified.

Buhl also acknowledged the inconvenience, saying he wished the team did not have to turn Secure Boot on, while explaining that it had weighed ease of access against a safer, fairer play environment. The beta’s PC requirement was therefore a security trade-off, not a promise of cheat-free matches.
How to report suspected cheating
EA’s beta response asked players to report suspected cheaters through the player profiles available on the score screen. Reports help the team investigate and refine detections; they are not, by themselves, proof that the reported player broke the rules.

EA’s current Battlefield 6 rules prohibit aimbots, wallhacks, tools that disconnect other players, exploiting bugs, stat padding, and win-trading. The rules also say Javelin is required for PC play.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to read EA’s later Match Infection Rate
EA’s August 28, 2026 update described Match Infection Rate (MIR) as a predictive percentage of matches negatively affected by at least one suspected cheater. That can include reported cases where there is not enough evidence to enforce a penalty, so MIR is not a count of confirmed cheaters.

EA said false reports against legitimate, highly skilled players—particularly vehicle players—had distorted the metric and produced an increase that did not reflect a change in known cheating populations, communities, or tools. EA changed the calculation in response. MIR is a later, separately defined measure; it should not be combined with the 2025 beta reports or blocked-attempt counts.
