In Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode, take the Legendary Bear Pelt to any Trapper. The Saint Denis market is the main fixed location, while four wilderness camps offer alternatives across the map. Turning in the pelt adds its material to the Trapper’s crafting inventory; it does not automatically craft an outfit or remove the need for other recipe materials.
Where to find the Trapper
There are five Trapper locations in story mode. Look for the Trapper icon on your in-game map to pinpoint the nearest one; the landmarks below are approximate, and location descriptions can vary between guides. IGN’s location guide and GamesRadar+’s guide identify these five story-mode spots.

- Saint Denis: A market stall on the east side of the city. This is the Trapper’s primary fixed location.
- Riggs Station: A campsite on a hill near Riggs Station.
- Big Valley / Owanjila: A camp in north-western West Elizabeth, west of Big Valley or along the road beyond Lake Owanjila toward the edge of the map.
- Annesburg / New Hanover: A campsite in the woods west of Elysian Pool and north of the New Hanover map lettering.
- Tall Trees: A campsite near the Lower Montana River, southwest of Manzanita Post. IGN says this location is accessible only after Chapter 6.
How to turn in the Legendary Bear Pelt
- Travel to a Trapper, using the map icon to locate the nearest available camp or stall.
- Open the Trapper’s services and sell the Legendary Bear Pelt. Its material will then count toward eligible Trapper crafting recipes.
- For an outfit piece, check the item’s recipe and requirements in the Trapper menu, then pay its listed crafting fee once you have the required materials.
A Legendary Bear Pelt can contribute to more than one Bear clothing recipe, but each recipe still requires its own additional materials where listed. The guide’s game-price listings are not real-world prices; check the in-game menu for the current recipe and fee. IGN’s guide and RDR2.org’s crafting list describe these recipes.

If the pelt was lost or the animal could not be skinned
Rockstar Support says the Trapper records the Legendary Animal’s defeat and the required crafting materials become available in the Trapper’s inventory after a short delay. A lost or unskinnable pelt cannot be sold for cash. Rockstar’s support articles were last updated May 1, 2024.

- Leave the area, save manually, reboot the console, reload the game, and speak to the Trapper.
