Its U.S. listing showed a price of $1,699 but was marked sold out when checked on October 8, 2026.
What is the $1,700 Grimlock?
It is the Flagship Grimlock G1 Auto-Converting Robot, Collector’s Edition, made by Robosen in collaboration with Hasbro. DesignTAXI covered its debut on July 20, 2023, describing it as a Transformers: Rise of the Beasts tie-in and reporting a launch price of about $1,700. Robosen’s current U.S. product page lists it at $1,699.
The price reflects a motorized collector robot with movement, voice and app controls, and programmable actions—not simply a larger hand-transformed action figure. The transformation and performance details below are Robosen’s product claims and specifications, not results from independent testing.
What can Grimlock do?
Change between robot and dinosaur forms
Robosen says the robot can automatically convert between its robot and dinosaur forms, and walk upright in both. The manufacturer describes Grimlock as a self-transforming robot; that is distinct from a figure whose owner manually moves its parts into each form.

The product page lists 42 voice commands and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.0 app control. Robosen also says users can create, share, and download actions. The page does not establish how reliably the robot performs in every setting, so these capabilities should be read as the manufacturer’s listed features rather than an independent assessment.

Robosen says voice actor Gregg Berger recorded more than 150 original G1 Grimlock lines for the robot. The included accessories listed by the manufacturer are a crown, Galaxial Rocket Launcher, and Energon Sword.

Robosen’s U.S. listing showed the robot at $1,699 and marked Sold Out on October 8, 2026. The listing therefore confirms the price shown on the page, not that a U.S. unit could be ordered at that time. Amazon stock was not verified.
Regional listings can differ. Robosen Japan’s page displayed ¥199,980 when checked on October 8, 2026, and lists the product for ages 15+ with English voice audio. That local price is not directly comparable with the U.S. price without accounting for exchange rates, taxes, and shipping.

How it differs from an ordinary Transformers figure
The defining difference is how the transformation happens: Robosen describes Grimlock as motorized and self-converting, with walking, voice commands, app control, and programmable actions. A conventional hand-transformed figure is operated by its owner rather than by the robot’s motors and controls. The Grimlock’s listed size and $1,699 U.S. price also place it in a premium collector category, rather than the ordinary action-figure price range. No competitor price comparison is established here.
