Updated October 8, 2026. Towers of Aghasba is an open-world fantasy building and exploration game available in Early Access on PS5 and PC through Steam. Its latest verified development update, posted by developer Dreamlit on September 29, 2026, said Update 12 was still being finalized and tested; it did not give a release date. The game has no confirmed full-release date in the available announcements.
What is Towers of Aghasba?
Towers of Aghasba is an open-world fantasy game about rebuilding settlements and restoring nature on Aghasba, the homeland of the Shimu people. After the Withered drove the Shimu from their home, the player returns as a junior architect, rebuilding villages, exploring the island, discovering its creatures and history, and fighting the Withered. Dreamlit’s September 2024 overview describes village expansion and ecosystem growth as interdependent parts of the core gameplay loop.
That balance is central to the premise: expanding settlements and restoring ecosystems are both goals, and the developer presents them as activities the player must manage together rather than as separate modes.
Is Towers of Aghasba out yet, and is it still in Early Access?

For someone deciding whether to buy now, that distinction matters: the game is available to play, but development is ongoing and the completion schedule is uncertain. Steam’s launch-era Early Access description said the developer expected that period to last around 12–18 months. That was an original estimate, not a current full-release date or a confirmed schedule.

What does the Early Access version include?
Dreamlit’s Steam Early Access description gives a snapshot of the game’s stated launch scope: six regions to explore, three ecosystem types, three settlement types, over 50 creatures, and over 150 decorations to craft. These are launch-era figures from the developer’s disclosure, not a verified inventory of the October 2026 version.

The game’s broader loop combines exploration, settlement building, ecosystem restoration, and combat against the Withered. The launch description also characterized multiplayer as a prototype, so those original feature details should not be treated as a guarantee of how every system works in the current build.
Is Towers of Aghasba multiplayer?
Yes, the official listings describe online multiplayer for up to four players, and PlayStation says it is optional. There is an important date caveat: Steam’s Early Access description at launch said multiplayer was in prototype form, with up to four players visiting one player’s island. It also said story progress did not transfer to visitors’ own worlds. Those are launch-era caveats; the available sources do not confirm whether the same limits apply in the current build.

The latest dated development statement covered here is Dreamlit’s Steam Community announcement of September 29, 2026, titled “It has been a Year.” The developer said it had been working on Update 12 since September 2025. It reported that the team had changed from roughly 20–25 developers working on the game to roughly five part-time developers, and that some Update 12 work was complete while other work still needed finalization and testing. The announcement did not provide an Update 12 release date or confirm its final contents. It also does not establish what happened after September 29, 2026, so it should be read as a dated status report rather than a prediction about the update’s eventual release.
What happened to the 2026 roadmap?
Dreamlit’s November 2024 roadmap proposed new regions, hot environmental effects, creatures, a town happiness system, and building customization for Q1 2026. It then proposed increased tower levels and major questlines for Q2 2026. These were plans, not confirmed deliveries. The September 2026 Update 12 announcement does not verify that each roadmap item shipped.
The roadmap is useful as evidence of what the developer intended at the time, but it is not a reliable current feature checklist or completion timetable. The latest dated status report leaves the Update 12 release and the fulfillment of those specific plans unconfirmed.
