Points come from progression such as defeating bosses and finding Tomes of Knowledge; archetype traits follow separate unlock and allocation rules. The Remnant II Wiki reports an 85-point allocation cap tied to The Awakened King DLC patch, while current patch details for the cap and respec item are not independently confirmed.
What traits do
Traits provide passive character effects, and spending points activates or increases them. A trait can be raised to level 10; the amount it improves at each level depends on the trait, so use its in-game tooltip for the current values.

The wiki identifies defeating bosses and discovering Tomes of Knowledge as sources of trait points. In multiplayer, all party members receive a Tome when one player picks it up.
Trait point cap and allocation
The Remnant II Wiki states that the trait point cap is 85, dating that figure to The Awakened King DLC patch. Its page is marked incomplete, and this cap has not been independently confirmed against current official patch information; treat 85 as the wiki-reported figure rather than a guarantee about every current version.

The wiki says some initial allocations and archetype traits are free and do not count toward the 85-point maximum. It also says these free allocations cannot be removed.
How archetype traits work
Archetype traits have their own progression. The Archetypes page reports 14 archetypes and says reaching level 10 unlocks that archetype’s trait for use with other archetypes.

While an archetype is equipped, its trait is automatically allocated according to the archetype’s level. After unlocking the trait, you can select it for other builds using available trait points. The beginner guide also describes a selected primary archetype as providing five bonus points spread among core traits; check the in-game display for current values and patch behavior.

- Does a specific archetype trait support the build’s main tactic?
- Is the trait already receiving automatic allocation from an equipped archetype, or will it require points from the available pool?
This is a practical decision framework, not an official trait ranking. The wiki’s examples of unlockable traits include Amplitude, Arcane Strike, Barkskin, Blood Bond, Bloodstream, and Chakra, but its unlock information is explicitly incomplete, so that list should not be treated as a full catalog.
Can you reset trait points?
The Trait page says Wallace in Ward 13 sells the Orb of Undoing, which refunds allocated trait points. It describes the Orb as reusable and says it is needed to switch between loadouts, with no additional use cost beyond the initial purchase. The current price and present-patch behavior are not established here, so check the in-game vendor and item description before relying on those details.
