There is no single Roblox error called the “first mouse glitch,” and different symptoms need different checks. Start in the affected experience: review its camera settings, test Shift Lock if available, then compare the same mouse in another Roblox experience. If the problem happens everywhere, move on to desktop troubleshooting.
First, identify what the mouse is doing
“Mouse glitch” can mean several things: the cursor stays in the center, escapes the game window, disappears, clicks do not register, or the camera will not rotate. Note which behavior occurs and whether it began after opening a menu, switching windows, entering first person, or using Shift Lock. Those details help distinguish a camera-control issue from a pointer or input problem.
Check the experience’s camera controls
- Open the in-experience menu and select Settings. Check the camera mode and whether Shift Lock Switch is enabled. Roblox’s In-experience Settings and Help explains these controls.
- If Shift Lock Switch is available, press Shift to toggle it. The switch changes camera modes; it is not a universal fix for every cursor or click problem.
- In Classic camera mode, hold the right mouse button and drag to rotate the view. Release the button afterward. This tests camera rotation, not whether the pointer is locked over the game interface.
An experience creator can restrict camera modes. If the setting is unavailable or keeps reverting, the experience may be controlling it; that alone does not show that your mouse is broken. Roblox documents developer-controlled camera and mouse-input behavior in its StarterPlayer documentation and mouse and keyboard input documentation.
Find out whether it affects one experience or all of Roblox
- Leave the affected experience and rejoin it.
- Try a different experience and see whether the same symptom occurs.
This comparison helps choose where to ask for help; it is not a confirmed fix. If only one experience reproduces the problem, use Roblox’s in-experience help to find the creator contact route and report the experience name and steps that reproduce it. An experience-specific control is one possibility, not a diagnosis.

If the issue appears in multiple experiences, note whether you use the website-launched player or the Microsoft Store app, which operating system you use, and the exact mouse behavior. Then try the desktop steps below.
Try basic desktop troubleshooting if the problem is widespread
- Close Roblox and restart your computer. Roblox Support’s General Desktop Roblox Issues page says, “First reboot your computer and try to play.”
- If broader Roblox client problems continue, follow the page’s next steps: clear temporary internet files, check whether security software or a firewall is interfering, and reinstall Roblox if needed.
- If you use an overlay, close it temporarily as a test. One Roblox Developer Forum poster speculated that Xbox Game Bar might interfere with cursor locking in a thread titled “My mouse cursor does not lock.” That is an individual report, not an established cause. Restore the overlay if closing it makes no difference.
Roblox’s desktop guidance covers general client problems; it does not establish that temporary files, a firewall, or an overlay caused a particular mouse glitch. Avoid changing or uninstalling software unless a targeted test gives you a reason.

Contact the right support channel
- Only one experience is affected: contact its creator through the route in Roblox’s in-experience help. Include the experience name and a short sequence of actions that triggers the issue.
- Several experiences are affected: contact Roblox Support if the desktop steps do not help. Include your device and operating system, whether you use the website-launched player or Microsoft Store app, which experiences you tested, and a screenshot or short recording if it captures the symptom. Roblox’s desktop issues page directs players to Support for unresolved problems.
A spare mouse is worth testing only if the same mouse also behaves badly in other applications. If it works normally elsewhere, that comparison does not establish that you need new hardware; it simply helps narrow where the issue occurs.
