Amazon said the deal was expected to close by December 16, 2025; neither company disclosed its terms. Ubisoft’s current plan is a Pioneer Playtest on Steam from October 7–18, 2026, followed by Early Access targeted for Summer 2027.
Who bought March of Giants from Amazon?
Ubisoft announced the acquisition of March of Giants’ rights on December 15, 2025. The game had been developed at Amazon’s Montreal Games studio, and the Montreal team moved to Ubisoft to continue development. Amazon said the transaction was expected to close by December 16, 2025, but did not disclose the deal terms. The announcement concerns this game and its team—not an acquisition of Amazon’s games business as a whole. See Ubisoft’s announcement and Amazon Game Studios’ announcement.
Ubisoft said Amazon would provide marketing support for the game on Twitch. That announcement does not establish a current creator affiliate program, compensation, or a way to sign up.
What kind of game is March of Giants?
Ubisoft describes it as a free-to-play, 4v4 tactical multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) set on a ravaged urban battlefield inspired by early-1900s technology. Each player controls a giant combatant, fights through lanes, commands smaller soldier battalions, and places battlefield structures called Battleworks. The design combines lane-based team combat with real-time strategy: players coordinate their giants and troops while using structures to shape engagements.

Soldiers and Battleworks
The official game site says players can direct soldiers to scout, attack, capture objectives, gather resources, and gain enhancements. Battleworks—including trenches, tanks, turrets, and bunkers—let teams build defenses and influence how fights unfold. Ubisoft’s playtest announcement also describes giant abilities, soldiers that can gather materials or claim temporary team buffs, and Battleworks that alter the battlefield. Who is developing it at Ubisoft?
Ubisoft’s acquisition announcement named Xavier Marquis as Creative Director and Alex Parizeau as Senior Production lead. Ubisoft described Marquis as the original Creative Director behind Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, and Parizeau as a former Managing Director of Ubisoft Toronto. Marquis said the team was excited to continue developing March of Giants from within Ubisoft.

Ubisoft’s 2025 acquisition press release said 98% of surveyed closed-alpha participants felt March of Giants brought something new to the genre. The release passage does not provide the survey’s sample size or methodology, so the figure should be read as Ubisoft’s report about its surveyed participants—not as independent evidence about players generally. Ubisoft also cited a broad market forecast in the same release, but did not identify the analysts behind it; it does not establish a verified forecast for this game.
