Ubisoft confirmed on January 21, 2026, that it had canceled six games, but it named only Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. The company described the other five as four unannounced games—including three new intellectual properties—and one mobile game. A later report identified the mobile project as an Assassin’s Creed game based on a leak, but Ubisoft has not confirmed that identification.
Which six games did Ubisoft cancel?
Ubisoft’s January 21 announcement named Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake and grouped the remaining projects without giving their titles:

- Named by Ubisoft: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.
- Four unnamed games: Ubisoft said three were new IPs, or original franchises.
- One unnamed mobile game: Ubisoft did not identify its franchise or title.
That is the extent of the official public identification in the announcement. The names of the four other non-mobile projects remain undisclosed in the sources available here. Ubisoft’s January 21 announcement also said seven games would receive additional development time.
Was an Assassin’s Creed mobile game among the canceled titles?
It has been reported, but Ubisoft has not confirmed it. A February 14, 2026, VICE report relayed an Insider Gaming leak identifying the canceled mobile project as Assassin’s Creed Singularity. Treat that title as a leak-based identification—not as one Ubisoft disclosed or verified in its announcement.

Why did Ubisoft cancel The Sands of Time Remake?
Ubisoft gave a project-specific explanation on January 30. The Prince of Persia team said it could not reach the quality level it believed fans deserved, and that continuing would require more time and investment than it could responsibly commit. The team described the project as having real potential, but said the quality and resource requirements led it to stop development. Read the team’s January 30 statement.
Ubisoft’s broader January 21 explanation was different in scope: after reviewing its content pipeline over December and January, the company said it was refocusing its portfolio, reallocating resources and revising its roadmap. It cited stricter quality criteria and more selective portfolio prioritization in a persistently selective market. Those company-wide comments do not establish the individual reasons for canceling the five unnamed projects.

No. In its January 30 message, the team said canceling the remake did not mean Ubisoft was leaving the Prince of Persia franchise. It did not announce a replacement project in that statement.

Alongside the six cancellations, Ubisoft said it was giving seven games more development time. One unnamed title was moved from fiscal year 2026 to fiscal year 2027. The company’s announcement presents these as parts of a wider portfolio and roadmap reset; it does not name all the delayed games or connect a specific delay to any of the canceled projects.
