No—the extra ending scenes in the 2024 Until Dawn release did not confirm a sequel when they appeared. PlayStation has since officially announced Until Dawn 2 for PS5 in 2027, but its announcement does not say that the sequel directly continues either scene.
What the new ending scenes show
The added material appears after the credits in the 2024 PS5 and PC enhanced release. GameSpot reported two scenes that point toward possible future trouble for characters from the original story.

Josh’s possible survival
In one scene, Josh survives a Wendigo encounter—if the player has reached the outcome in which he lives—and is badly injured. He hears Dr. Hill tell him that he may still be able to redeem himself. GameSpot read the moment as a possible direction for a continuation, not as confirmation that one was in development.
Sam after the mountain
The other scene follows Sam years after the events on the mountain. She appears to be self-medicating for severe PTSD; a book about Great Plains creature myths lies beside her. She wakes with a bleeding wound and hears an eerie voice call her name. Those details invite questions about what happened to her, but the scene itself does not establish the cause or connect it to a later game.

When GameSpot covered the scenes on October 3, 2024, Sony had not announced another Until Dawn. The scenes were suggestive, not proof of a sequel.
What PlayStation has confirmed about Until Dawn 2
On June 2, 2026, PlayStation announced Until Dawn 2 for PS5, planned for release in 2027. The sequel is being developed by Firesprite and is described as a standalone experience with a new cast and a new world.

The announced premise follows the crew behind Dead True, a paranormal video channel. They travel to an abandoned tropical island to film a funded episode, only to encounter real horrors. PlayStation says player choices affect who falls victim and who survives, while relationships influence story branches.
Dr. Hill returns, again played by Peter Stormare. The announcement does not say which, if any, characters from the first game will return beyond him, whether players’ earlier outcomes carry into the sequel, or whether the new story is linked to Sam’s or Josh’s added scene.

How the 2024 release fits in
The scenes were added to the enhanced release, rather than the 2015 PS4 original. PlayStation announced the PS5 and PC version in January 2024 and set its release date as October 4, 2024. PlayStation called it an enhanced version; “remaster” is a familiar shorthand, but it was more than a resolution upgrade.
PlayStation said the game was rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, with updated character models, environments, props, effects, and animations. It also added fixed and over-the-shoulder camera options, a revised prologue, relocated totems and new Hunger totems, accessibility and usability settings, and Stay Calm as an optional alternative to the Don’t Move mechanic. A PlayStation Network account was required to play the PC version, according to the launch announcement.

For the extra ending scenes specifically, the key distinction is the version: they belong to the 2024 enhanced release. The official sequel announcement confirms a new game, but not that those additions were made as a plot bridge to it.
