The clearest documented way to get Jirachi is in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl. If your Nintendo Switch system holds save data from Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield, you can claim Jirachi in Floaroma Town. Beyond that route, options depend on the game you own, the hardware you have, and whether a distribution is currently running, and each of those is covered below.
The Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl route
Nintendo’s official Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl bonus page describes a save-data bonus. A Nintendo Switch system with save records from Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield qualifies you to receive Jirachi in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl. The page does not list a minimum amount of play or any other save-file condition, so the requirement is the presence of qualifying Sword or Shield save records on that system.
Steps to claim Jirachi
- Confirm that the Switch you will use holds Sword or Shield save data. The bonus is tied to the save records on that system.
- Start Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl and travel to Floaroma Town.
- Walk to the flower field at the southwest end of town and speak to the gentleman there.
- Jirachi is added to your team. The official page’s wording is: “Speak to a gentleman in the flower field located on the southwest end of Floaroma Town to add Jirachi to your team.”
The official page is unattributed site copy, so the instruction is best cited to the bonus page itself rather than to any named author.
What to check before you travel
- The save data must be Sword or Shield records on the Switch system you are using. Save data from other games does not qualify under the documented bonus.
- Bonus distributions of this kind can have end dates. Check the official bonus page before you start, because this guide cannot confirm whether the offer is still open on the day you read it.
- If you have several qualifying save records, you still receive only one Jirachi per game (see the next section).
Only one Jirachi per Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl game
The official page states that even with multiple qualifying save records, a player can receive only one Jirachi in a Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl game. Adding more Sword or Shield saves does not produce extra copies. If you own both Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, each game is a separate claim, so each can yield one Jirachi.

Transferring Jirachi with Pokémon HOME
Pokémon HOME is a storage and transfer service. Its official page lists Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, Sword, Shield, several other Switch games, and Pokémon GO among supported titles. The same page warns that restrictions apply to moving some Pokémon.
Because those restrictions are Pokémon-specific, supported games do not guarantee that every individual Pokémon can move to every destination. Before you plan a transfer, confirm that your target game accepts Jirachi. The available official material does not establish Jirachi-specific transfer eligibility for each destination, so treat HOME as a storage path to verify, not a guaranteed one.

Older and specialized methods
Older routes exist, but they are less straightforward than the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl bonus.
Colosseum Bonus Disc to Ruby or Sapphire
A secondary reference reports that the North American Pokémon Colosseum Bonus Disc can send Jirachi to an English-language Ruby or Sapphire game. The transfer uses a GameCube to Game Boy Advance link cable. This method depends on GameCube hardware, a Game Boy Advance link cable, a matching region, and an English-language cartridge. Official sources reviewed for this guide did not confirm every regional and hardware condition, so check those details against a current, reliable source before attempting it. Availability of the disc and cable is also not confirmed here.

Mystery Gift and event codes
Pokémon Support describes the general Mystery Gift process for event Pokémon and promotions, including code-based receipt in Sword and Shield. That article explains how the mechanism works, but it does not show that a Jirachi promotion is active. Do not assume a code or distribution is redeemable unless an official announcement names Jirachi and lists a current date window.

If you want Jirachi on a Switch and do not own Sword or Shield, you would need access to those save records before the documented route applies. Buying a game solely for the bonus is a decision to weigh against your budget and the bonus’s end date.

What is not established
The sources reviewed do not establish every current way to get Jirachi across the full Pokémon catalog. They also do not confirm whether Pokémon GO offers Jirachi, whether any Jirachi event is running now, or whether the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl bonus remains open. Treat the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl method as the documented route, not the only route.
