Untitled Goose Game from House House has a premise that players and reviewers keep coming back to: Metacritic’s user reactions praise its simple idea and criticize its length, and both points matter when deciding whether it is worth your money. The sections below cover what the game asks you to do, how its two-player mode changes it, which platforms and physical editions exist, and who should pick it up.
What the game is
House House’s official site sums up the setup in one line: “It’s a lovely morning in the village, and you are a horrible goose.” You play that goose. The village has its residents going about their routines, and your job is to make their day worse in increasingly creative ways.

Metacritic describes the game as a “slapstick-stealth-sandbox,” which is a useful shorthand. The stealth part means you often need to wait for a moment when nobody is watching. The sandbox part means the village is full of objects you can pick up, move, and interact with, and the mischief comes from combining them. The slapstick is the tone: most of the fun is in the timing and the reactions, not in a complicated rule set.
How the puzzle play works
The game gives you a list of tasks and lets you decide how to complete them. Some tasks are straightforward, while others reward you for finding an unexpected route or a clever use of the environment. Reviewers who write about the game tend to focus on this balance: the list gives you direction, and the village gives you room to improvise.

Solo play and the two-player mode
The game has a two-player cooperative mode. House House’s FAQ describes it as a case of the levels being the same, with players able to team up to make trouble. PlayStation’s listing describes the feature as a free update for owners.
The co-op mode changes the experience more than a simple add-on would. Solo, the game is a quiet exercise in patience and planning. With a second player, the planning becomes a conversation, and the mischief becomes shared. If you play with someone who enjoys improvising, the mode can extend the fun in ways the solo game does not.

Reviews and player reactions
Player reactions on Metacritic are mixed in the way many short, focused games are. The praise centers on the simple premise and the sense of humor. The criticism centers on length, on how much the game feels like it creates new ideas over time, and on whether the price feels justified. Those three concerns are the ones to weigh before you buy.

- Australian developer house developed this ultimate anti-hero game with the sky-screaming comic geese as heroes. They created a clever and genre-crossing puzzle game with hilarious gestures and absolutely annoying elements.
- Everything about this game is charming, from the skillful animation to the quiet yet dynamic soundtrack.
- Included here is a very special Mailorder catalogue-like "junk catalog", a super informative and illustrated booklet as well as a hand-illustrated, elegant village map as a poster. Both are available exclusively for the physical edition of the game.
- Well, if that would not be enough to say "quak, quak"!
Professional reviews are also listed on Metacritic and GameSpot. GameSpot’s listing includes a review by James O’Connor. Review scores and aggregate numbers change over time, so check those pages for current figures rather than relying on a number quoted here. This article does not present a single consensus score.

Digital or physical?
Digital purchases are the simplest option if you want the game on your console or PC without extra steps. The official FAQ confirms two physical versions: a retail edition from Skybound Games and a special version from iam8bit. If you collect physical games, the special version is worth checking for contents, but the sources used here do not describe what it includes.
