Yes—Brook documents its Wingman XB 2 adapter for both the original Xbox and Xbox 360, and lists wired Xbox 360 controllers as supported. To connect it to the original Xbox, you also need a female USB-to-Xbox converter cable. Check Brook’s current compatibility list for your exact controller and connection setup before buying.
What you need
- Brook Wingman XB 2: Brook lists compatibility with the original Xbox and Xbox 360. See Brook’s Wingman XB 2 specifications.
- Female USB-to-Xbox converter cable: Brook says this additional cable is required to use the adapter with the original Xbox. Confirm whether it is included with the specific listing you plan to buy; Brook’s requirement does not establish that every seller bundles it.
- An Xbox 360 controller supported by Brook: Brook lists wired Xbox 360 controllers, but compatibility should be checked for the exact controller and setup in its Wingman XB 2 compatibility FAQ.
How to connect a wired Xbox 360 controller
- Check Brook’s compatibility list for your specific wired controller and setup before purchasing.
- Connect the Xbox 360 controller to the Wingman XB 2.
- Use the female USB-to-Xbox converter cable to connect the adapter to an original Xbox controller port, following the cable and adapter connection directions.
- Start the console and check that the controller responds. If it does not, recheck the compatibility list and the connections; the cited product information does not establish that every unlisted configuration will work.
Wireless controllers and receiver requirements
Brook’s product information says a receiver is required when using an Xbox 360 controller on an Xbox 360 console. That note is specifically about Xbox 360 console use; it does not establish which wireless receiver, if any, is needed for an original Xbox setup. Do not assume a wireless configuration will work based only on the wired-controller listing. Check Brook’s compatibility list for the exact controller, receiver, and console combination.
Choose the right Wingman model
Brook identifies the Wingman XB 2 for Xbox Original and Xbox 360. Its XB 3 is listed for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, not the original Xbox. Check the model name on the product and packaging before buying, and consult Brook’s FAQ: an unlisted controller may be incompatible or may simply not have been tested.
What is not established
Brook’s cited product information supports the adapter-and-cable approach, but does not establish comparative latency, reliability, or gameplay performance. It also does not confirm that every Xbox 360 controller, wireless arrangement, or seller’s accessory bundle is compatible. Verify the specific controller and included cables before you commit to a setup.
