Forums later launched for Community owners, and Roblox subsequently outlined a Wall read-only and removal schedule alongside new Community tools. The original post is therefore a dated announcement, not a complete guide to current Community features.
What did Roblox announce in November 2024?
In its November 3, 2024 post, “Update to Roblox Groups”, Roblox said access to the Wall—the discussion space in Roblox Groups, now called Communities—would be limited to users who were logged in and at least 13 years old. Roblox said its goal was to make Communities a central place where creators and members could connect safely.
The post also pointed to Announcements and Events as features that had launched earlier in 2024. Announcements let creators share information broadly; Events could be embedded on a Community page and linked to. Forums were still a plan at that point: Roblox said they were on track for Q1 2025 and would eventually replace Walls.
What happened to Forums and Walls afterward?
On August 21, 2025, Roblox announced that Forums were live for all Community owners and could be enabled from the Community Admin Page. The post described Forums as a dedicated place for discussion with more organization and member-engagement tools.

Roblox said Forums were viewable by all users, while owners and administrators controlled who could post. At launch, posting was limited to logged-in users aged 13 and older. The launch announcement described these capabilities:
- Categories to organize discussions.
- Replies and reactions on posts.
- Pinned posts.
- Moderation controls, including locking discussions and setting who can post or comment.
The same announcement said Walls would become read-only on December 1, 2025, with removal planned for early 2026. Roblox advised owners to save Wall material they wanted to keep and said Wall posts would not migrate to Forums. Those dates describe Roblox’s announced plan; the announcement alone does not confirm that every Community’s Wall was subsequently removed.

How do Walls and Forums differ?
| Area | Community Wall | Community Forum |
|---|---|---|
| Organization | A single Wall for discussion. | Categories organize discussions; this was part of the August 2025 launch description. |
| Conversation | Wall posts. | Posts with replies and reactions, as described at launch. |
| Access and posting | Roblox’s November 2024 change limited Wall access to logged-in users aged 13 and older. | Roblox said Forums were viewable by all users at launch, but posting permissions were controlled by owners or administrators; posting was then limited to logged-in users aged 13 and older. |
| Moderation | The cited announcements do not specify comparable Wall controls. | Launch tools included locking discussions and controlling who could post or comment. Roblox later described role-restricted categories, subject to additional role and age-check rules. |
| Retention | Roblox said Walls would become read-only before planned removal and warned that posts would not migrate. | Owners who wanted Wall material to persist were told to save it separately; the announcement did not describe an automatic transfer into Forums. |
What Community features did Roblox add or announce later?
Roblox’s 2026 Community engagement tools update described Polls in Community Announcements, Announcement Notifications, rich-text Forums, analytics, and a Support Ticket system. It also reported testing results of +6.5% Community visits and a 66% increase in Announcement Notification click-through rate (CTR). These are Roblox-reported test results, not guarantees that every Community will see the same effects.
In a June 23 update, Roblox said role-restricted Forum categories were live. Members need the relevant role and an age check of 16 or older to access restricted categories. Community owners need an age check of 16 or older to create or manage them. These later restrictions are distinct from the 13+ posting threshold Roblox described for Forums at launch.

What changed for Announcements and Shouts?
On November 24, 2025, Roblox announced that Announcement creation was moving onto Roblox. It said the Guilded integration for posting Announcements would end on December 19, 2025, and that Shouts would be phased out on February 27, 2026 for Communities that had not used Announcements.
In that post, Roblox said, “Every day more than 5 million users are engaging with your Communities.” This is Roblox’s statement from November 24, 2025, not an independently verified current audience count.

What should Community owners take from the announcement?
- The 2024 post announced the Wall age restriction and described Forums as a roadmap item; it did not announce a live Forum feature.
- Roblox later said Forums were available to Community owners, with categories, replies, reactions, pins, and moderation controls.
- Roblox’s 2025 Wall schedule called for read-only access from December 1, 2025, then planned removal in early 2026. The announcement said Wall posts would not migrate, so owners were advised to save material they wanted to keep.
- Role-restricted categories add a separate 16+ age-check requirement for both eligible members and owners managing those categories.
