Steam presents a more favorable but distinct snapshot: 72% positive from 717 all-time reviews when the storefront was accessed in 2026. That share reflects Steam users and can change; it should not be read as a direct comparison with Metacritic’s critic aggregate or user score. Steam’s V-Rally 4 page identifies KT Racing as developer, Nacon as publisher, and September 25, 2018 as the PC release date.
What makes V-Rally 4 appealing?
The defining draw is its assortment of off-road events rather than a focus on rally stages alone. The game includes rally, rallycross, drift, buggy and hill-climb challenges, and advertises career and online modes on Steam. Nintendo’s US store also describes its Switch edition as a multi-discipline off-road racing game. Nintendo’s US store listing is the platform-specific reference for that version.

What criticisms should players consider?
Review material displayed by Metacritic raises concerns about handling, inconsistent AI and an unclear career path. These are reviewers’ assessments, not independently verified problems that affect every player, platform or event in the same way. They matter most if precise driving feel or easy-to-follow progression is central to what you want from a racing game.

A PlayStation Universe review excerpt dated September 13, 2018, scored 75 on Metacritic, praised the game as varied and fun, and criticized its graphics and soundtrack. It also said newcomers could get the hang of drifting with practice. That is one outlet’s judgment, not an official description or a universal consensus. Consider it if the chance to move among rally, rallycross, drifting, buggies and hill climbs is more important to you than consistently polished execution. Be more cautious if your priority is dependable handling, convincing AI or a career structure that clearly guides you from event to event. The mixed critic aggregate and the more positive Steam storefront snapshot describe different groups and methods, so neither should be treated as a definitive answer for every platform.

The game is listed for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in Metacritic’s platform information; Steam lists the PC edition, while Nintendo’s US store lists the Switch edition. Metacritic’s historical listing names Bigben Interactive as publisher, whereas Steam names Nacon. Those listings reflect their own source contexts and should not be collapsed into one unqualified publisher label.
