VALORANT has already launched on consoles. Riot lists the free-to-play game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; the main things to know are that console players can compete together across Xbox and PlayStation, but not against PC players, and progress carries over through the same Riot Account.
Which consoles support VALORANT?
Riot lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as supported platforms. Its August 9, 2024 availability announcement described the console version as focused on ninth-generation devices and named those systems. The reviewed official listings do not identify earlier console generations as supported.
Check Riot’s console page for current platform and availability information. VALORANT is free to play on console, but you need a Riot Account to log in, according to Riot’s platform-selection page.
Can Xbox and PlayStation players play together?
Yes. Riot supports cross-play between Xbox and PlayStation console players. Console matchmaking does not extend to PC: console players cannot join PC games. Riot says this separation is intended to preserve competitive integrity.

Does progress carry over between console and PC?
Riot says you use the same Riot Account on console and PC. Battlepass progress, recruited Agents, purchased skins, and other progress or purchases carry across platforms, so you do not need to start a separate progression path for console.
Do you need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass?
No paid subscription is required to play. In its official Australia and New Zealand FAQ, Riot states: “No, you do not need a subscription to play VALORANT.” Subscribers may receive benefits, but a subscription is not a condition of access.

Where is the console version available?
Availability has expanded over time, so launch-era region lists should not be treated as a complete current map. Riot’s August 9, 2024 announcement named the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil as initial regions and said expansion could change. More recently, Riot’s September 24, 2026 Australia and New Zealand announcement said access began September 23 on the Sydney server.
For your region, use Riot’s current console availability page rather than assuming an older launch list is exhaustive.

Riot’s June 25, 2024 Patch 9.0 notes documented console Competitive Mode, controller presets that could be customized in settings, and sensitivity controls. Those are historical notes, not a complete inventory of the current console modes or settings. Riot’s available FAQ also asks whether mouse and keyboard can be used on console, but the reviewed page does not provide an answer; its question alone is not evidence of support. Riot’s official materials reviewed here do not establish any additional physical accessory as required.
