When did the VALORANT console beta start?
Riot announced the console beta at Summer Game Fest on June 7, 2024. The limited beta began June 14, initially in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. PlayStation Blog also announced PS5 beta access on June 7. These are historical dates, not upcoming release plans: Xbox Wire’s June 7 announcement and the PlayStation Blog announcement describe the original beta.
Is VALORANT on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S?
Yes. Riot’s August 2, 2024 Xbox Wire launch announcement said the game was live on Xbox Series X|S. Riot’s current Console Guide lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as supported hardware. The game is free-to-play; access depends on having an eligible console, Riot Account, and being in a supported region.
What do you need to play VALORANT on console?
Riot’s guide requires all of the following:
- A PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
- A Riot Account in good standing, with no current VALORANT or Riot Account ban or suspension.
- Residence in a region where console VALORANT is supported.
Riot’s current region list includes North America, Europe, Japan, Brazil, and Australia/New Zealand. Riot announced console availability in Australia and New Zealand for September 23, 2026; its regional announcement also clarifies that a subscription is not required to play. Check Riot’s Console Guide for the latest eligibility information, since regional availability can change.

Can console and PC players play VALORANT together?
No. Riot’s 2024 console announcement says console and PC do not crossplay. Players on different console platforms can play together, so PS5 and Xbox players are not separated from one another. Riot also distinguishes account content from competitive progress: content carries between PC and console, but ranked progression does not. In other words, a shared account does not mean shared ranked progress or console-to-PC matches. See Riot’s Console Guide and the Xbox announcement.

No subscription is required to play, according to Riot’s Australia/New Zealand announcement. Xbox Game Pass can provide benefits on Xbox, but Riot says those benefits do not apply on PlayStation. PlayStation Plus is not a requirement for access either. Choose between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S based on the console you own; Riot’s cited guidance does not establish that one platform performs better for VALORANT.
